15? That's less than I earn by the hour at my current job. Though, it's more than I earned after a week of sawing, polishing and drilling metal spare parts for cars by hand for 8 hours a day for a whole week in Bolivia back in 2009 when I was 18. But that's another story...Esotera said:My first job was a paper round for £15 a week, and I'm pretty sure that it was actually illegal as no-one paid tax and it started too early for my age. It pretty much sucked & I quit after six weeks.
OT: Although I've had a few temporary and some more long-lasting jobs through the years, I've recently started at what I consider to be my first "proper" job. I start at 8:00 and finish at 16:00, sit by my desk, do my job, have lunch with my colleagues, work some more, and then come back the next day. It's in the software business targeted at the medical sector, and it's just great working here.
In my previous job, I was told I could work whenever I wanted, but that they preferred I would work as much as I could. After exhausting myself in that job, I decided to cut it down from 5 to 4 days a week. A few months later, they start telling me they could only allow me to work 2 days a week. A few weeks later this got turned way down to only 1 day a week. After enduring that hell for 2 more months, I got pretty much forced to agree that I would leave the job the next day, in return they would pay me salary for the next 3 months, or I could just get fired. I agreed to the 3 months payment deal, but considering that the last few months had only been 1 day a week, these next 3 months would only be calculated with one 5-hour day per week. To sum things up, I earn twice as much in 1 month at my current job, than I got for 3 months at my previous one.
