StarSiege

joined a guild and everything, went on raids, head set mic the whole 9 yards. This sounds tame but I was the only one of my friends with a computer and gaming was very very niche amongst the people I knew.

Thinking about it I have no justification in my merciless mocking of my WOW friends because at age 13 I was queen of online mech action...man that was schweet

Wow am I really that old. The first games I played over a network were several different text based games on a BBS. This was in the 80s, on a 2800 baud modem. Pre-AOL, pre-Prodigy, Pre-internet.
Please tell me one of those was The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. (best beginning to a game ever!) lol

It was either Priston Tale, or Unreal Tournament.

Both of which, I hate the sight of nowadays.

Silly fragfests.

LambdaMU. Text based and silly, but I think that qualifies.
Actual online gaming experience, Unreal: Tournament or Counterstrike, old school with the bunny hopping.

Some game on AOL (yes, sorry) back in...no idea 96, or 97? It was some kind of action-3d shooter with rpg- elements (and magicians). No idea how it was called, but is was cool.
