just for fun...
is there a difference between weaboo and otaku?
I'm gunna give you another answer, further confusing the definitions.
An Otaku in western terminology is traditionally a fan term used to attribute nerds to hobbies with Japanese origins. Before recently I would've called it what weaboos like to think of themselves as since it is a generally derogatory term refering to a japanese version of nerd with a massive fixation on anime and manga, and rarely leaving the house, so it's easy to see why western people adopt this, but I always thought it was a bit weeabooish until recently since it seemed like an attempt to want to be Japanese.
I'm forced to think differently since my uni's anime club is called the Student Otaku Society, but that may still have weeaboo connotations since I'm about one of two people who even
tolerate dubs.
But weeaboos are quite simply people with manic fixations on japan. Not them merely liking several Japanese things, but believing Japan is the greatest place on earth, has all the best things, and they have aspirations of learning Japanese and living in Japan.
This doesn't sound
incredibly bad unless you have to be in a conversation with them, if they have to compare everything to how Japan does something. But they're the kind of people that name their RPG characters some pseudo-Japanese name because they think it's exotic and therefore cool.

I'm not hugley into anime but If I were I don't think I'd call myself an Otaku due to the negative conotations of the word in japan...but then I guess when we use it its not the same word...and when I think about it in the context of japan I could be called an Otaku mabye...
From what I hear about you, you enjoy collectibles and don't get out much, so possibly. Althoguh I'm not sure of whether it requires specific interests. I may think more that you may just be a Hikkikomori, a person who never leaves their house, but from what I've learned, I believe that has to do with mental problems rather than interest, so yes, you may be classified as an otaku in Japan.
Edit: Just realised I can sum this up better.
Otakus like things from Japan
Weeaboos like things
because they're from Japan.
