I know the game- and filmindustry trys very hard to keep everyone thinking that germans are still Nazis. But I´ve got fate that the escapists think different, so tell me (if you don´t mind) what is the first thing that comes to your mind exept a big empty cinema with zombies in brown uniforms and obvious poses attacking you (and maybe a friend).

Let's see the first thing that pops into my head is that I am 80% German. Another thing I think of is the language which I tried to learn and failed miserably, but at least I gave it a shot........ right >.>

After that, yeah it's the war. More precisely I find the history of Germany from 1918 to 1945 absolutely fascinating. Since that includes the histories of those within Germany who opposed Hitler I certainly don't consider all Germans to be Nazis, now or then.

Hitler and kinky sex. Also, generally known as a county with poor comedic skills.
On a positive note, besides for the kinky sex, I think of a highly industrial and technological advanced society whose people, from the few I have know, as being pretty cool

oddly enough not Nazis... I have a very geographical mind and when someone says Germany, i immediately think of a map of Germany. It's shape, borders, city locations, regions and landmarks... actually outside the alps in the south, i don't really know any german landmarks or regions... this looks like a job for GEOGRAPHY!

... yeah, yeah... -sigh- geography will never be as good as science...

I think about the Dark Beer I had in Rothenburg when I was on vacation there. Also Venison. And saurkraut. Mostly food for some reason. Germany is great for that sort of thing.

I honestly don't think of Nazis when I think of Germany. I guess that CoD and a deluge of WWII movies has kept that certain connection alive. Since I'm not really a fan of either, I never make that association.

(From USA) What comes to my mind first is high intelligence, rationality and logic, high standards and innovation in technology. I think of how most of the greatest philosophers, mathematicians, and physicists of history were German.

Next I think of bad food, bad weather, fantastic beer, and relatively glum unhappy citizens.

As for the world wars, I can see why Germany thought they were so great that they should conquer other nations. I'm just glad the lessons from that mistake were learned before I was born. If the world has forgiven Japan for WW2, they should forgive Germany too.

Well now seeing as I'm a HUGE WWII history buff, WWII. And no, not Nazi Germany, just WWII in general.

Hell, I'm mostly German and live in a town named after a German town. :p

The second thing would be beer.

This is very relevant:

On a more serious note all the German people I have met have always been quite intense in their personalities. They don't beat around the bush and will just tell it like it is, they tend to have an all-out way of approaching everything they do. When they work they are really intent on getting all the details right, when they party they just go completely mad, when they sleep it's like Rip Van Winkle. Everything they do seems to have a great intensity. Of course, those are only the German people I have met.
