Ah, my early years...

I started out downloading (with a lot of help from my parents) colouring pages from the Cartoon Network and the Beano websites. Back then they were the internet for me. This was... 2001-ish. I don't remember the exact moment I started going online though. I must've been 6 or 7.

I must have first used the Internet when my friends introduced me to it at school.

I think I was 9, and we had a group session in the schools IT room. When the teacher was out of the room, some of the naughty people would go on miniclip and play games. I risked it at some point, then thought, when I got home, that I could do it all I like.

I would load a game up, then be smart and disconnect the Internet so we didn't have to pay for a static page.

Sooner or later, porn and whatnot, I don't really remember that.

Ok. I'm quite young; about 14 years of age so the first time I saw the internet was in 2008 when my dad bought me my own laptop. The first thing I did was join a lego forum that I left 2 days after. Although they're times before were I used the internet in school I had never been able to use it freely within my own time.

When I wanted to buy an awesome aliens vs predator figure for christmas, but couldn't find one locally. My dad introduced me to google search and we ordered one.

:)
How old were you for Alien Versus Predator to be suitable for you but you weren't old enough to know what the internet was, after google became a popular search engine. I assume you'd have to be pretty young, AVP is an awful movie.
Figures, it was a good movie when I was 13 and stupid.

As to why I didn't have more exposure to the internet, well...

Even though the area in South Africa where i'm from looks like this:

It is currently being run by this:

Consequently, dial-up internet connections were the only affordable option for me in the undeveloped nation, and I never really could use it anyway when people were on the phone or using the computer and they always frowned when I did want to use it because that would add to the bill.

Ah, that makes sense then. I'm too spoiled by our society, because I although I remember having Dial Up I don't remember ever being without internet. We were off Dial Up by the time I was 6, too.

First time on the internet? Hmm... Probably when I was about 7/8, playing flash games.

My first time was long before the WWW. Back in the days when gohper and telnet where the shiznit and a 14.4 modem made you godlike. Porn was much harder to find back then but still vast in quantity.

I think it was before I even went to primary school, back in the glorious days of dial-up. There was a web-site that was sort of an off-shoot of Lycos that was pretty much made for kids (Alfie if I recall), me and my sister used to spend time on that and Id say that it was probably my first.

I can't remember the exact year but I think it was when I was around 10 or so.

Anyway my bro had used it for his clan chat during Alien Vs Predator fps game.
The time when I did use it myself was during High School time when we sometime goof off during IT class, we keep going to these shockwave games website. We often go to the library aswell to play those games.

The first time using broadband however was in 2005 when I started living in student flats (before then I was still using 56k so I was quite suprise by the broadband speed).

AOL.

My parents made me an account that monitored everything I did. I used it to play terrible flash games and instant message my 6th grade girlfriend I never talked to in real life.

I ended up finding a chat room and said something about gay butt sex, in which a moderator kicked me.

My parents got an email about what I said, and that was probably the most scared I've ever been in my life. I ended up lying and saying that I never even used that particular screen name anymore, and they bought it more or less. Luckily for me, I had some friends who would do that kind of stuff.

They ended up thinking one of my friends guessed my password

Originally just used it for information rarely because I was young.
Then I was shown Online Games so I did that most.

First thing I actually made an account for was Neopets. That was a much more innocent time. Those little guys must be starving by now. Maybe I should cancel the account.

Then many steps later here I am. A guy who posts his thoughts, feeling, opinions and philosophies on to the internet where everyone can see them.

The Escapist and Youtube are where my true internet identity start.
I don't count Facebook seeing as I've been using it for less than a year.

It's weird to think back that 10 years ago I didn't use the internet at all. Now look. Most of my free time goes into some form of the internet.
I REGRET NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Heh, I've been using a computer since I was 4 years old. I actually used computers a lot to play computer games and I learned about the internet when I asked my dad a question and he showed me Ask Jeeves. He said that I could ask it anything and it would answer. Needless to say I got pissed when I realized that it just showed me a bunch of links. Later I remember changing to Google pretty quickly.

I was about six or seven, I think. I already spent a lot of time on the computer playing kids games (and some Age of Empires that my step-father got me into), so it wasn't much of a change for me. The first website I remember frequenting was Neopets and I'm pretty sure the rest of my time was spent just looking up Sailor Moon pictures (this was before any web search for Sailor Moon would automatically turn up loads of porn, of course).

I kind of want to get on Neopets and watch Sailor Moon now. Must... resist... nostalgia!

If I can recall, my beginnings of internet exploration started around when I was 7. At that age, I mostly just played some flash games, but eventually began to broaden to different types of websites.

One thing I can remember when first using internet was the terribly slow dial-up my grandmother used. The process of paint drying was faster than that thing.

Earliest I remember is a site full of little kids games that I showed my class when I was seven and our classroom got a computer. I didn't really start using the Internet to it's full potential until I bought my own laptop at 14 after saving for 2 years.

I cant remember exactly what i did the first time. I know i used AOL, with a 56k modem. On an Acer computer in the 90's. I know i used it a LOT for checking out Magic the Gathering cards a month before the expansions came out, to plan the cards i needed for new decks.

I also used it to look for pics of Playboy models, as internet porn was pretty tame the first 6 months or so of popular use.
