Damn, the profile setting aren't friendly to that formatting. I can't very well lie about my age.
*meh* Bio ought to cover it. And you can embellish it with something toffish!

LOL No worries! Awk, if there's a fork handy, I'd use one or if it's making my hands gross! If there was some sort of sauce on them, I'd definitely use a fork though :p

Suddenly reminded me of a Samuel Johnson quote (not related, but still funny):

Samuel Johnson said:
Much may be made of a Scotchman, if he be caught early enough.
Oh, I'm so going to bashed for that! =P

Fuck your gastropubs
I live in the south, and I agree with everything you've said, good sir. Gastropubs... GASTROPUBS?!?! Seriously, WTF kind of word is that?! It sounds like a fucking intestinal infection!

Hipsy_Gypsy said:
I either take chips (in general anyroad) with nothing on them at all or loads of salt or loads of salt and vinegar :L Depends on what I'm in the mood for!

What if you're in the mood for... pizza...?! -_-

YES! The more vinegar the better! I have to be able to inhale most of it when I unwrap the glorious thing. >:D

That isn't the acidic fumes of vinegar you're inhaling.

Those are the fumes of perfection.

Agreed. Chips without ketchup is like the sea without water in it. They are one, you see. The Chips and the Ketchup.

We have a word for people like you...

There are ladies present however, so I only ask that you leave now, else I slap you with my slapping glove.

But chips are finger food a lot of the time anyway :p It depends :p But if I was having fish as well, I'd use a knife and a fork. I'm no savage! :L

Also, salt and vinegar on pizza? Ew. Just... ew. I've had salt and vinegar on chips with pizza and some of the vinegar ended up getting soaked up by the pizza... *shudders* Not nice at all!

I agree entirely, despite that I am not British and am in fact American. Furthermore I demand this thread be bumped, stickied, bronzed, hung on the wall, read as a proclamation to all heretics of good taste, and sealed in an indestructible time-capsule so that all in the future will know the proper and correct way of doing things.

Alas the closest we get to proper Fish and chips around here is the Friday Fish Fry...which whenever I sit down at such an affair I always feel as though I am sitting down to feast in Valhalla. Clearly it is the food of champions, kings, and gods themselves.

There may still be hope for the colonials yet...

You sir, have my grudging respect.

You will not like those in the east of Scotland who put mayonnaise on their chips, that's what the chippy ask them!

IT'S BLASPHEME!
The Scots were always a little strange.

I blame the French.
You just can't win, go to Edinburgh, get dodgy fish and chips or go to Glasgow, get good fish and chips, then get stabbed once you leave the shop!
Aye but its worth it for the Deep Fried Mars bars.

I had some chips from a chippy today , and I was going to get some fish too but then I realised im down south where there is no sort of substance to the fish mainly just batter with the thinnest of fillets inside and it is expensive as hell.

I ashamedly went for the burger, and such was their disgust at this that they refused to give me a burger bun. they gave me just a burger, on top of my chips not in a burger bun at all. The kind you'd buy frozen from the supermarket for 4 for £1

Maybe I had it coming by going for a cheap alternative, or maybe they were fish and chip purists like daystar here but as I sat at the bus stop with my wooden chip fork munching away I wished I was in Whitby. Now they can do some fish and chips! (try out the magpie cafe)

True, though I've had the fish with the small wooden fork before. Fiddly, especially when pissed, but still eminently edible. -_- And of course, you're a leidee! (As Clarion has noted above.) XD

Also, salt and vinegar on pizza? Ew. Just... ew. I've had salt and vinegar on chips with pizza and some of the vinegar ended up getting soaked up by the pizza... *shudders* Not nice at all!

Sorry for recalling that memory for you!

And why do I suddenly want to see what chips + Worcester sauce is like...

Yeah, but tag that with the 'heart-attack' in a newspaper that is the DFMB, I'm a bit iffy about that...(!) You ever had a deep-fried pizza? *shiver*

Sorry Brits, I'm Aussie and allergic to seafood so I must substitute the fish in my Fish & Chips with a lovely battered sav.

I moved to Canada, and every day I want to go home and have some chips from the chippy down by my local supermarket. They just don't understand it here.
I can't say I've had fish & chips from Britain, but there is definitely variation to the places around here in Canada, you just have to keep searching. Best stuff you'll ever get is up in the north though.

You will not be invoking Godwin's law in this thread!
