Yes, rules. The favourite word of the Germans and least favourite of the French.
Could've sworn that "courage" was the least favourite word of the French...

But yeah, fish and chips are tasty.
The french have won more wars then the US has been involved in, the french know war, they just had the misfortune of having a combination of being prepared for the last war and of having a horrible leader who betrayed them.
Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot that people weren't allowed to make jokes on the internet any more, and that the internet is now run by a fascist dictator. My bad.
Haven't you heard?

No joking around, now get back to work.

In New Zealand, we've transitioned to tomato sauce. Not Ketchup, obviously, becuase it has to be Wattie's tomato sauce, but vinegar isn't so popular. Also, out here in the colonies we eat Fush and Chups, obviously =P
Hear hear! Our fush and chups must always come with a side of Wattie's. And occasionally chicken salt.

And there is definitely no two-pronged utensil involved. The only time your hands aren't touching the chips is when bread and butter is used for a tasty chip sandwich.

Hurrah, fish and chips without paper just tastes so wrong, so very wrong. Plus the wooden fork...spot on. A metal fork completely destroys the delicate flavour of the cod.

It is really hard to find proper fish and chips these days, with the all-you-can-pour vinegar in the bottles on the counter. The stuff in the little packages just does not have the same kick.

Whitby does the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. That's why I reckon Dracula went there. Real vampires like Whitby fish and chips

Well, I grew up in the Florida panhandle, so I've definitely had my share of fried fish and french fries. That said, I'm not going to insult you by insinuating that the stuff I've eaten is even remotely the same as what you're talking about.

Only that it's probably better.

I think that last picture isnt of Fish & Chips... its of BATTERED SAUSAGE!

Look at the chewy yet flakey white fish! *drools*

And the chips, not thin little Fries! Powerful, bulky chips... capable of standing up on their own and eating lesser chips!

What about battered sausages? Are they acceptable? and HP or Barbecue sauce instead of the dreaded Ketchup?

You know you are eating a meal thats far superior to anything else when animals from a 5-mile radius all flock for your Fish & Chips instead of going for literally any number of other food supllies, they all abandon their natural food for the Fish & Chips.

To the people who dont know the effects of Fish & Chips I will explain, if you ever see a person surrounded by a thousand seagulls you can guarantee that person has Fish & Chips.

Ketchup on fish!? Ugggh, I have nightmares about being a dumb child... ;_;

But yeah. When I pop over to the local food court, I get fish and chips, whether they're prepared for it or not. Nine-o-clock in the morning fish and chips... Mmmmmmm...

I think they're getting desperate enough to ban me from the shop.

Hmm, I have always ate them with tartare sauce.

EDIT: You forgot the greatest side for fish'n'chips, PINEAPPLE FRITTERS!

It's not ketchup. It's called Tomato Sauce and I'll put it on whatever I damn well please. Except for fish, lemon juice goes on fish and sometimes tartare sauce should be used with the chips.

Stupid other countries getting it wrong.

Otherwise I agree that it makes for a pretty good meal.
