Dudes, epic list right here.

1. Regular Show

2. The Daily Show

3. Mad Men (like the OP said, it's really good)

4. The Walking Dead

5. MLP:FIM

Yep. Strange how my two best "shows" have "show" in the title.

Yeah, those. I'm in a rush so I haven't quite thought about it too much, but those are my top 5 off the top of my head.
Top Gear! And Life on Mars! I like you.

OT: Well off the top of my head, which is likely subject to change is just a quick list, (I assume it's supposed to be still running shows)

Supernatural: I love this show, and it easily has the BEST soundtrack ever.

Game of Thrones: An excellent t.v. adaption of an amazing book series.

Fringe: Never afraid to get weird, and I love it for that. Also Walter. Just Walter.

Mentalist: Come on, Jane is a boss.

Leverage: It's a great show and always fun to see how the master plan comes together in the end.

Honorable after-thoughts:
Warehouse 13: A really fun show, and I love seeing all the effects historical artifacts have.

Eureka: Crazy scientists causing havoc that a confused ordinary man has to fix? I'll take it.

Doctor Who: A madman with a box. Not much else needs to be said.

Top Gear (down here since it's mentioned in my quote): Crazy Brits causing havoc with cars. Yes please.

1. Luther....so so much Luther
2. Sherlock Holmes....why is there only 3 episodes? Oh right, cause they're all like an hour and a half
3. Sons of Anarchy....it's up and down, but still pretty solid A material
4. Archer....They've never been able to capture the magic of season 1, but it's still the funniest
5. Terriers....This show revitalized the down-on-his-luck P.I. in a whole new light.

Honorable mentions go out to Awake (which is probably one of the few original premises I've seen) and Game of Thrones (it might've made the list but I've only seen a few and the fact that it hasn't suckered me into seeking out more tells me something)

In case you haven't heard of Luther, I encourage you to look it up on netflix:

Hmmm The Sopranos? The Sopranos ended in 2007, you know what ended in 2008? The fucking Wire. The Wire, the second greatest TV show ever made, yes better than the Sopranos, hell better than just about everything but Deadwood.

As to good stuff on TV now. I only watch Dr Who regularly and that is mostly because of over 30 years of loyalty.

Uh, there are actually 6 episodes of Sherlock out right now...

So we're going for best, not favourites here eh? Here we go then, in no particular order:

- Game of Thrones
- Justified
- Sherlock
- Breaking Bad
- Boardwalk Empire

Game of Thrones (Obviously)
Breaking Bad (Obviously)
Mad Men (Obviously)
Community (Obviously)
Archer (Obviously)

Shows that others did not list:
The Venture Bros - Very good animated series, with plenty of great humor and references to pop culture. If you like adventure shows, science fiction, comics, you will probably love it. Adult swim has reruns of it from time to time.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - a lot of dark humor, irony and occasional commentary on recent events. Definitely worth checking out.

Adventure Time
Archer
Supernatural
Burn Notice
Walking Dead

I'm surprised to see Archer being as popular as it is. I expected that one to end up too good to not get cancelled in season 1, but it seems to have taken off.

My top five of the past 10 years

1. Friday Night Lights- Subdued look at small town America with fantastic, relatable characters
2. Community- When it's good, it's the best. Absurd, clever, good natured. The dean is the champion
3. Arrested Development- I've watched the whole series 3 times and still find new stuff to laugh at
4. Veronica Mars- In which a tiny teenage girl armed with a sharp mind and a taser is revealed to be the ultimate badass
5. Pushing Daisies- A modern fairy tale with an interesting balance of whimsy and grittiness. Light but tons of fun

Top five running today
1. Community
2. Mad Men
3. Parks and Recreation
4. Louie
5. Happy Endings

4: Community - Makes me sad it's ending, season 3 has been glorious.
I thought it got an extension, unless it got canceled again... Oh God... Nononononono...

Anyway, yeah for me it's Community, Daily Show, South Park, Archer, and Doctor Who in no particular order.
Yeah, Community's coming back for 13 more episodes at least. Thank the TV gods

Oh good, I can still live on this planet. Despite the Glees and what have you there is still something good and worth while in the universe.

Apparently they've got a 13 episode 4th season! Found that out last night so pretty stoked.
I forgot about Archer as well, Archer's the bomb!

My top five shows will pretty much mirror several other lists here but here it is:

Archer
Game of Thrones
Legend of Korra
Daily Show/Colbert Report
Mad

Mad has to be my new favorite show right now. The random art styles might seem offputting and you really have to know who they are jokeing on, but man when you actually get the joke you will laugh your ass off.

If I could add more shows I'd also add Ugly Americans, Avengers EMS, and Spartacaus.
I love Archer. I missed Season 3 and hope it is added to Netflix streaming soon.

I hope Game of Thrones comes out on DVD. Everyone seems to love it, but I can't bring myself to pay for HBO with so much great TV on AMC, etc. and I do have Netflix streaming. I doubt this is coming to streaming for a long time. Doubt the Sopranos ever did (got those on DVD though!)

The guys at Totally Rad at revision3 had that in their top 5 TV this year. It is a great, great show.

i had problems with luther s2 it just felt more tame.
Wasn't season 2 the episode with the gaming twins? Yikes!

EDIT: Damn! After all the enthusiasm for Game of Thrones, I added it to my Netflix queue. Very long wait. I may have to buy the dang things!

American Horror Story
I cannot wait for season 2! I have a buddy that loves the supernatural and missed out on this, but he can start up on the next season: all new characters and situations (but may keep some of the cast: they'll just be diffferent people.) So flipping great.... and again, not Network TV.

The only Network TV I'm seeing pretty regularly here is Community. I'll have to check that (more than the one episode I've seen where one of the characters is dressed up like Batman.)
