Over the past few months, Scott Cawthon has been updating his website with strange lines slowly being replaced by text. Today it was finally completed and the result is: Five Nights at Freddy's 5: The Sister Location. The first teaser features a new animatronic that seems to a mix between the puppet and BB with the tagline "There never was just one."

On steam Scott has said the game will vastly different from previous installments, though whether he meant in terms of gameplay or because of the new setting (presumably Fredbear's Family Diner) is unclear.

Here's the teaser on Scottgames: http://www.scottgames.com/project.JPG

I just... can't care anymore. I admit I was scared a couple of times on the first FNAF, heck it was the mobile version too, but now I just roll my eyes at people playing this series' installments.

Ok, before, I was torn between thinking 'This guys just getting it while the getting's good, can't blame him' and 'Jesus, slow the fuck down.' But I leaned toward the former.

But we're now very quickly approaching 'Shameless Money Milking' territory.

I think part of the issue is just how the FNAF games are by nature. They're incredibly easy and quick to make. For example a fan has been trying to make FNaF fan games using the same engine and techniques as Scott at the same quality and has already made two, with each taking only about two months to make.

I'm not happy about this at all. I felt the last really good idea for FNAF was 3, and while I could tolerate 4 and World, this is where I draw the line. What else can he do with FNAF? I'm worried that FNAF has completely destroyed Scott's creativity at this point, and that he won't be making anything else but FNAF related games until they are no longer profitable.

On top of that, 4 completely retconned every preceding game as a dream/nightmare of a dying child, so this game is either another dream/nightmare scenario, or we're going to retcon 4, or there's going to be some actual shady stuff in Freddy Fazbears "Sister Location" that would make the whole point of 4 completely worthless.

It just makes me so sad to see someone as creative and nice as Scott Cawthorn doing nothing but the same thing over and over again.

Scott Cawthon's been talking a lot about the game on the steam forums, here are all his responses on it:

On making a fifth entry: "Hey guys, relax. It's just a game series. If you're done with it, then you don't have to stick around. Five Nights at Freddy's isn't going anywhere though, so either move on or buckle up. ;)"

On why he said FNAF 4 would be the last one: "I never said I couldn't change my mind. ;) It's not like every time I speak I'm engraving it into a stone tablet somewhere."

On the gameplay: "I really appreciate that everyone. This one will definitely be different; there are a lot of surprises in store!" and "I can neither confirm nor deny that a fan will be in the game."

On people worried about "the haters" reactions to the announcement: "I get a lot of hate anyway. They'll get over it. ;)" and "The haters seem more obsessed with FNaF than the fans! :p" and "Don't feel bad about anything. I'm here for the fans and supporters of the franchise. Haters gonna hate. It doesn't bother me, so don't let it bother you."

Yeah, I knew the whole "FNAF 4 is the last one" was bull. As long as he can make money on them, he'll keep making them.

So he decided to milk his franchise even more than to keep whatever integrity left of it? Good for him I guess? Still I can't exactly blame him since he got kids and if I remember correctly, he got a full time job so he isn't exactly earning wages the same as a gaming companies would have.

I thought the recent release of the toys would keep his bank afloat (I mean he would get royality right?).

Eh, supply and demand. Why not make money if people want more?

If people are willing to buy FNAF 103 or whatever that guy have every right to make it.

Well, hm, I'm not excited and I'm not proud but I'm probably gonna get it.
Should probably finish FNAF 4 before I do.
And start World.
And I should do it with haste because knowing this guy's release schedule, it's probably coming out tomorrow.

EDIT: You know, looking back on it, what does "Sister Location" mean? I have almost no doubt I'd know if I re-watched all those Game Theory videos (which even after watching all of them twice still only 80% get it) but can someone but forth the answer or at least, dare I say, theories?

I don't mind. Not like he's forcing you to buy them. As he said himself: if you're done just move on. Others will enjoy it (personally I haven't enjoyed a FNAF since 2)

He's probably got more than enough to keep himself afloat for the rest of his life plus enough to raise his kids with good educations. Especially considering how much he's been able to donate to charity.

Sister Location eh? Awesome! I never really pleased FNaF for the gameplay or anything. I'm one of those lore junkies for this series (Me loving how it's all tied together). I sure hope that this means it won't mess with the (finally) tied together lore plot that the other locations made. If not, then bring it on~

Well if star wars can get away with remaking a new hope they i'm sure Fnaf can survive another sequel although at this point i don't know how much of the initial mystery and loose threads remain after all the theories and videos. At the least it might be something worth watching/reading about the lore.

Gotta give the Youtube overreactors something to play. How else will they keep those millions of subscribers happy.

I don't see the problem with it. I mean people still clearly want it, he does put a fair bit of effort into it in terms of designing new anomatronics and the like.

I dunno, for some reason I see this as more acceptable than AAA companies milking franchises. I guess because he's the one who made it and he isn't being forced to do it via corporate mandate.

You can't call it taking an old IP and cranking out shallow cash-in sequels to fuck the hell out of it. Scott made the whole franchise by himself. At the very least, the original creator gets 100% say in everything.

That damn RPG though. I dunno what happened there. Maybe drugs. He could sure afford to buy a mountain of it at this point.

I'm actually looking forward to it.

Not buying it. I never bought any of those. I'd rather watch the same-old youtubers play it like I always have. It's only as good as 6 difficulty levels and pre-animated jumpscares allow; you could get the entire value out of just watching it I think.

FNAF is pretty much the video game answer to Paranormal Activity, so it's only normal it should get as milked as that movie franchise.

Should have called this thread "Artist throws away integrity to pay bills". =P

Anyway, I know absolutely nothing about FNaF, apart from the entire point of World was that the artist wanted to say "I'm fucking tired of this goddamn shit". The backdown is strong with this one.
