I'm actually surprised nobody's posted anything about this. I just found this trailer for a promised YouTube series based on Five Nights at Freddy's, animated in Source Filmmaker.

...I'm floored. That is some amazing quality right there. And if Scott Cawthon had gone with those designs for the original animatronics, we'd probably have a lot of Let's Players still recovering from heart attacks.

It looks great! If a little silly.

I can't say I'll watch it though. I'm more interested in the success story behind the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise than the fandom itself. Is Scott involved in this in any way? If not, I'm even less interested.

Hmmm, not sure how I feel about the guns and whatnot. Makes it look more like Dead Space. Animation was great though.

The artistic direction of the series based on the trailer doesn't seem to make any sense, since it's about military conflict with the animatronics whereas the games are focused on psychological horror, and the ambiguity of the role of the player. The games are focused largely on mystery and the unknown whereas the series seems to be us vs. them.

It was well made but I don't think it really fits. It looks like they took some basic visual characteristics from FNAF and then made it more like your usual horror shooter. The designs for the animatronics with the spikes and blades aren't really gelling with me either. These things are meant to be old animatronics made to entertain children.

I quite liked the music, but the inclusion of gun wielding military personal just seems rather stupid.

I thought the whole point of FNAF is that fact that the animatronics are peaceful entertainment by day, but become nightmarish by night. Could you ever imagine those animatronics in the video being around customers?

I don't think it's that impressived. The whole point on why FNAF was scary in the first place was the whole "less is more". You can't leave the securtiy room, had little powers and your vision was limited to what you see from the cameras were all to make you feel powerless and vulnerable especially when they reach you!

Having guns seen to defeat that purposed despite it look like just shooting them won't killed them and also it seen ridiculous that some kid restuarant is worth having a shootout from two groups over it! (I guessing at this point in the series, there is some kind of a hidden conspricy in the resturant.) Yes I know the game is also ridiculous at time but hey the game is good.

Beside I think they could had carry on with a pychological horor like something akin to Blair Witch eventhought that would had resulted in a small minimovie at best (the resturant isn't that big).

Umm, why are there armed soldiers in the building? And why are they apparently able to enter into hand to hand combat with the animatronics? I'm just saying, a well placed grenade should clean the place out pretty easily. Or just use a bulldozer. The last bit made me laugh, though.

It's a funny idea, though I am a little tired of it. The original was good because it was so simple.

Oh what is with the mistreatment of Bonnie since the first game? He's easily the most damaged in 2. He's not even in 3, and now he's just getting a cameo for this little show. Bonnie is bae <3

The animation looks cool, but I'm wondering why they thought adding guns to the equation would be a good thing.

I'm not jiving with this at all. I guess this is just what happens when something becomes insanely popular, it goes the way of Dead Space and everything that made it good and unique is stripped away in favor of adding gunfire and marines. They aren't keeping the format, the original animatronics, or the story. So what exactly are they keeping? The name?

Seems to me this is just trying to coast on the success of FNaF.

I really doubt it. It flies in the face of everything the original games were about, Scott said in an interview that he specifically avoided violence in the games, and he said he was done with the series after 3. Plus, the video description is from a Machinima maker who talks about all the assets he used, which makes it likely to be independent.

OT: No. I don't like the look of it at all.

I personally felt the story behind FNaF had no business being in a video game. If Scott were to write/produce a webseries that retells the plot of the trilogy as he interpretted it that would be really interesting. That said, I don't think he would since I feel he really likes how fans debate endlessly over the back story. I also think a book might work better for the story as well because a lot of the implied violence and themes could be really well done if written by someone who was a talented writer, but I wouldn't bother buying a book that wasn't at least co-authored by Scott. Still very curious as to what the "real" explanation is behind the various events of the games, reading all the theories has been interesting but I am at the point where I would rather get straight info from Scott now instead of the endless speculation.

The mental image of what happened to Spring-Trap still gives me shivers and I cannot think of any other game that has given me this sort of creepy feeling.

As for this specific video, I'll watch it when it comes out because I like animation in general and it appears to be very well animated but as far as it being at all FNaF related, the trailer doesn't instill any hope of that. If it were people in suits attacking people it could be interesting but the trailer shows animatronics covered in blades and spikes battling special forces looking people so I doubt it will be of any value to my interests in FNaF. Still would watch it though because I like smooth animation, even though this looks more like some sort of well made fan-fic than any sort of attempt trying to expand the universe (which would still be fan-fic but I mean focused within the established source material.)

You might want to put something in the title that indicates this isn't official.

I'm not interested.

I get seriously not funny freaked out by animatronics, so I avoid FNAF like a plague anyway. They looked way too much like robots in this thing though. The animation is definitely nice though. I'm sure someone will like it.

When you said "youtube series" I didn't expect much but that's actually not all that bad looking. It kinda looked like a game trailer.

I am a bit skeptical about the lack of voices... If the voice acting is as good as the animation I'd definitely give it a watch. I like creepy stuff like this. :D

If they changed the animatronics to not be the FNaF ones, and gave it a different name, I'd think it looks like a cool series. But the groups of people, mobility and weapons (to me at least), make it not a FNaF series, just a series that uses the animatronics

No jump scare at the end? Now that is disappointing.

Doesn't seem to gel with the tone of the games but hey, if people enjoy it then why not?
