A thread designed for a flame war will attract mods like honey attracts flies

and why PS3 vs 360
they're both good, and both crap
PS3 has no games, but it has dependable hard ware
360 breaks at the drop of a hat, but has a lot of games, and i really like the concept of achievements

so why not just flame the crap out of the Wii
it actually deserves the flame

like this, "you know if Nintendo comes out with a second Wii, called the Wii 2, in Japan it would be called the Wii Ni" ha ha, get it
Dude have you been living under a rock? I haven't heard the "PS3 has no games" complaint since the year it came out. Plenty of games have come out since then. And I don't own a 360 but I also haven't heard about it breaking for years. And both have a form of achievements, with PS3 having trophies, so why does that factor in?

OT: I think that people who start flame wars do it because they feel that by buying their console they took a side, and they feel the need to fight for that side. That or they need to qualify their purchase. I would never try to start a war, but I can understand why someone would feel the need to. I'd rather defend both sides of the argument and come to a neutral agreement.
I don't know that much about the PS3 but i don't recall ever hearing trophies having points attached
the no games argument is a stretch, especially because the PS3 is backwards compatible and the 360 isn't
the 360 does break if you look at it funny
I chose the 360, and I chose wrong because most of the games I own came out on everything with a screen, except halo 3 but who cares?

it doesn't matter, look at the exclusive titles and pick which ones you like the most
don't buy a console, buy games, then choose a console based on that

all that matters is that you don't buy a Wii
unless you're a pedophile

windowless vans should come with a free Wii included
I don't recall you mentioning anything about points, and trophies don't actually have points attached but rather they use a tier system to add a percentage to your gamer level depending on the tier. Also I don't entirely understand your "the no games argument is a stretch" comment, and I don't know what awesome PS3 you've been playing but it's not backwards compatible, at least not the later ones. You can buy some PS1 titles from PSN, if that's what you're referring to.

And if you do regret buying a 360, don't. It looks awesome to me and Halo looks like a series that I may buy a 360 just to play.

Lastly, I do own a Wii, just like 97.2% of the population, and it does have a few good titles. That's why children are so drawn to the ones integrated into vans.
PS3's aren't backwards compatible? okay never mind 360's the way to go
and the PS3 does have games, it's just most of them are multi platform so i don't count them
I like being able to see my gamerscore on the 360 it's like a running meter of how I'll never have a girlfriend
what are the good Wii games, that don't have the word "Wii" in the title, sorry for the specification but I don't need to hear Wii sports and Wii Fit, and aren't multi platform games, because...well because. and I'll just say Mario Galaxy and SSBB right now so you don't have to type them

what do you think about Kinnect and Move?
The PS3 also shows a score based on your trophies, but it shows how many levels you are in the "Not Getting Laid" chart. And I never played Mario Galaxy and SSBB was "meh", but Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was amazing and the new Metroid looks great, DeadRising: Chop Till you Drop killed a lot of hours for me, and Dead Space: Extraction was awesome.
And lets not get into the Kinnect and Move since that really isn't appropriate for this thread that we are taking up space in, but I will say I am cautiously optimistic.

My ps3 was backwards compatible. Maybe they took that feature out but I don't see why they would. I think it's just certain models that are not BC.
Of course another thing people don't mention is that many good games (MGS 3, hitman BM) have BC issues on the ps3, at least for me they did. Constant freezing for both.
Yeah, BC was removed, at least when I got mine (which I'm very sad about). I don't remember why but I think only the early models had it.

Not sure if that's a song lyric, but anyways I'm glad we can be mature humans and start talking about- whatever this topic was for.
I don't remember what it is, maybe I made it up.
It's about flame wars, Jesus Christ guy, stay on topic. You brought this topic off it's course faster than David Hasselhof on a mechanical unicycle.
XP
David Hasselhof? Unicycle? Whatever.

Anyways, I want an answer to this question:

Are both PS3 and XBOX360 backwards compatible?
I've heard stories both ways, and this has been used in so many flames. It'd be good to find out more about it.

Also I'm pretty sure you mean "breed", not "bread" and motion controls do seem gimmicky at this point and I do enjoy pressing buttons instead of moving as well but I think they could make games more immersive if done right.

I could control Motion controls to bread... they make sandwiches better buy they don't sand up on their own as a food.... but notion controls don't really make games better
I thought the PS3's 6-Axis thing...(did I say that right) was a really good idea. a normal controller with a motion control in it. IT could give you all the reliability of a controller with the Immersion of being able to jerk the controller for added effect or something like that, but everyone says that's crap

and if I owned a Wii, I guess I'd get some of the better looking Nintendo Reboots too, and hell I might even like some of 'em. but it wouldn't push the console for me.

Yes, the Six-Axis controller is actually very gimmicky and is rarely used in games, but it never really seemed like a good idea to me since moving a regular controller in rare situations doesn't seem as immersive as what the Wii should have done, which is allow you to control your character as if you were him, which is what I hope the Move and Kinnect will do.
And I bought the Wii just for Zelda, and that game was almost worth the buy. Dead Space made it completely worth it. (and if we're going to continue this conversation, could you at least try to watch your capitalization, punctuation, grammar, etc? Sorry, it's just a little pet peeve of mine)

unless you're a pedophile

windowless vans should come with a free Wii included

And lets not get into the Kinnect and Move since that really isn't appropriate for this thread that we are taking up space in, but I will say I am cautiously optimistic.
you're into Zelda ok, and the new Metroid does look good, but everything looks good these days
I think all bread of motion controls are gimmicky, I like buttons just fine
Actually I've never played a Zelda game aside from Twilight Princess and thought that it was better than many other games. And I believe I said Metroid looks great, not good.

Sorry, it's just a little pet peeve of mine)
we'll see about the move and Kinnect, or you will anyway. Sorry for the capitalization, and stuff. my pet peeve is when people leave out letters, capitol I's and apostrophes. So I get where you're coming from. I don't care too much about the other stuff, mainly because I don't think about it.

We're cool. And as far as the Move and Kinnect go they may seem gimmicky but I may still get them (if I do eventually get a 360 it's going to be one with Kinnect) because I'd like to see gaming move forward. A lot of people don't like the idea of motion controls but if Microsoft and Sony can do what their ads are promoting (which is doubtful, but still...) then it will be a step forward to virtual reality chambers, and the people of the future won't understand why we rejected the concept. And that's all I will say about it.

I notice the first thing people do that are new to this site is either
1) Make a stupid console thread (like the "why the psp is better than the 360" one a while back)
2) Make a thread that has to do with Halo.

OT: PS3 is the best console....
I'd like to keep the whole "X is better then Y" subject out of this discussion.
What the hell are you smoking? Y would kick X's ass any day of the week. [sub]And don't get me STARTED about Z.[/sub]

Ahahaha!

I have both consoles so I'll sit back and laugh, either way I'll still win! Wait, what..? Does this mean I have two dads.... o_0
Don't worry Jesus had two dads, and he threw the money lenders out of heaven (apparently). So he turned out ok.
Jesus turned out okay? He was crucified!
He got better [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/IGotBetter]

You're talking about the console war, and it's one of the stupidest things the Human race has ever created.
Console wars are amazing! In fact some of the best games out there are created due to "console wars". Pride in purchasing a system or a machine? nothing wrong with it. I grew up ARGUING with friends over nintendo or sega ..which is better...and if you are mature..the argument stays at just that. But back to orginal point. Console wars are amazing and NEEDED!!!! You need COMPETITION in order to keep the price of games down and quality up. Look at atari..no competition on the market and it was flooded with HORRIBLE games at OUTRAGEOUS prices. with competition we got games like mario brothers and sonic. Crash bandicoot legend of zelda. metroid. Hell at the time resident evil was part of console war's as well as laura croft. gears of war, ratchet and clank. all fairly fun and good games to play that were born do to Console wars

People are insecure about their purchase so feel the need to degrade the other option to make their chosen console seems like it was the best investment.
probably true, as there actually is little difference between the consoles, but both have their better qualities, playstation being reliability and bluray, xbox being online service, so because gamers cant afford both they will buy one then shun the other to make themselves think they havent made the wrong choice
