Whenever we order Chinese food, everyone is disgusted that I love Egg Foo Young so much, mostly because it has such a visually repulsive visage. Benefits include never having to share.

It's quite easy; bacon is often horribly salty and pretty fat.
Good point.
However, my friend really doesn't care about the salt or fat content of his food. He gets McDonalds, Hungry Jacks etc, quite often. So it's odd when he orders a meal containing bacon, vacuums up everything on the plate but leaving a couple of bits of bacon on the side.
It tastes very salty a lot of the time, maybe that's what bothers him.

What's experience have you had with meat before? Not to seem patronising but different meats taste very different from each other, it's not too hard to understand that he doesn't like one type of meat :p

As an interesting aside, I have a raging omnivorous friend (he rags on me for being a vegetarian) and yet he doesn't like bacon. I don't understand that at all.
Bacon is usually only good on its own and ruins most of the things you put it on, since it's a very strong flavor that tends to dominate the rest of the dish. I honestly don't see why you'd wrap something as delicate in flavor as a scallop in bacon.

For me it's...

A lot. I ate a wide variety of meat for the first 19 years of my life. I decided on a whim to stop eating meat for a short while to see how it would affect my health. It didn't seem to make much difference, but I was too lazy/stubborn/prideful to revert. That, and considering I have a terrible sense of taste, giving up meat permanently was really quite easy. Generally speaking, I don't much like food.

I love everything that is overly spicy. A well done chili can keep me going for a long time, i add garlic, pepper and onion pretty much to every dish, pickled paprika is my usual snack. Most people that get a chance to eat dinner at my place usually cry for water.

People don't like how I eat EVERY kind of sushi/shashimi. I also order strange things to make my boyfriend's mom feel umcofortable.

Thats the benefits of living in Asia, you learn to just eat it.

Calamari, aka fried squid. Mmmmmm, so good, especialy with some aoli sauce. I have a friend who tried it without knowing what it was. When I told him it was squid, he spit it back out.

I've also had tripe, which isn't bad if it's cooked properly. My mom thinks its horrificly disgusting.

Of course, I like just about every type of food.
