i agree! especially when it was the school bully, or someone who used to enjoy making fun of you at school. when those people come up to you and start asking how you are etc i annoys the hell out of me. Normally it is because they want to try and show they arent like that anymore (from my experience at least). They want to shed the guilt feel better about themselves. Normally i tell them i dont give a crap and walk off. Though occasionally you will get some like that whos first words out of thier mouths are 'hey dude. i'm really sorry for the way i was to at school.' Those people, them i'll talk to. It shows they accept what they did was wrong and they really do want to make a difference. The other ones that couldnt give you the time of day, nah, now i dont have time for them. Lifes too short to waste on people like that.
How about I teach you some stuff right here!

Lesson 1. The Enter Key
Examine your keyboard carefully. See the big one to the right that says 'Enter'? Try pressing it once in a while.
Lesson 2. Capital Letters
Examine your keyboard once again. Can you see the 'Shift' key? Whats that? There are two? Maybe you would benefit from holding one to magically produce capital letters at the start of your sentences? Everyone else certainly would.
Lesson 3. Full Stops
Where do you use these 'capital letters' you ask? They would go to good use after full stops, at the start of new sentences.

That concludes our lesson for the day.
Next week, we'll learn to write things that people actually care about.

havent you got better things to do than correcting peoples grammar online, and if this was a subject not worth ure time why did u read it and respond to it, i suppose your a teacher are you? cause noone else really gives a shite about how people spelll and where they use full stops. look no capital letter. find a hobby that isnt worrying about what other people do and worry about your own life bud....

Why would I bother to correct your atrocious grammar, you ask?

Perhaps because the only reason I use this forum is that many of the people here, people wholly unlike you, are intelligent. Now you could have chosen to accept my plethora of advice and become at least more intelligent sounding but, it seems that you are so ignorantly headstrong that you cannot appreciate people who try to improve not only you as an individual, but the integrity of the forum on the whole.

Its a shame, isn't it?

look i dont mind being corrected yea thats fine but being out right sledged is just pathetic... im a licensed plumber for a living i dont really need all this grammar and what not to get along in life. I like to come onto these forums at the end of the day to unwind and not to have a worry in the world cause i deal with enough douchebag customers throughout the day so the last thing i want is to come home and be judged on the way i write things, if it makes me sound stupid or something i couldnt care less and that is a bonus that im comfortable with who i am and what i do, im not on this site to get judged moreso than i am to just throw my opinion out there thats it...

Ok I'll leave you alone if you are determined to ignore my extremely posh upper class hoity toity private schooled advice.
You'll probably disregard whatever I say from this point, but I hope you do make a good living, because you at least have some backbone.

I know how you feel OP, I spent over ten years at my school and now I'm out I see my old 'friends' (typed with derision) occasionally on the street.
I've smacked one or two because they had the gall to come up to me and say something stupid. I don't have to put up with their shit now, we don't see each other often, and there's a REASON I'm no longer in contact with them.

Yes. It's a shame that you seem to focus more on correcting other people's grammar than you do your own.
Since you seem big on education, I direct you to this article on compounding [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compound_(linguistics)] and this article on contractions [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contraction_(grammar)].

Now please, before your next grammar-crusade, make sure you come prepared.

As for the topic at hand, I don't really have a problem with what you describe. If people who were bastards before have turned friendly now, then that's just a good thing.

Okay, so, I fixed up your post. I'm honestly not trying to be a prick here, but you seem much more intelligent if you put a bit more effort into grammar and such.

OT: I can't say I've ever been in this situation, so, yeah...

hate to tell you this sunshine but having good grammar does NOT make you smart. you can have bad grammar and be very smart. they are two very mutually exclusive things. take Einstein for instance, the man came up with the theory of relativity and yet couldn't tie his own shoes, cut food with a knife and a host of other things. there's a ton of compsci guys that have horrible grammar and yet make things like UNIX and linux and the video games you play

the only reason why you correct people is to feel some sort of superiority over them and make yourself feel like you are more intelligent than them, when in reality you aren't and just want to feel like a big man.

oh and if you want to comment about my grammar, that's fine i'll still have friends with PHDs that i can hold very intelligent conversations with and you'll be correcting people's grammar on the internet

I pretend I don't remember them. And treat them as someone I'd prefer not to know. After all, if they didn't want to know me in school, then I don't want to know them ever.
This answer for me, too. When i was in grade 9 and grade 10, seemed like all the 'cool' guys passed their time by making fun of me and my clothes and how i did things. (Found out later it was because all the ladies fancied me over these cool guys.)

At the start of grade 11, my worst tormentor tried to turn over a new leaf and started acting like we were great friends when i saw him in the halls.

After day 3 of this, i confronted him and told him to fuck off.

You can call me petty, but i'm sorry.. I don't forget shit like that.

It kind of drives me to be at where i'm at in my life today.

I do realize i have an unhealthy level of anger in my life :p

I am aware that it doesn't make you smart, it just allows what you are saying to be more easily comprehended.

It seems a lot of people have misinterpreted my dark humor as an indication that I am a stuck up, insecure child. I have no power over your personal opinion but I assure you that I am at most only two of those things.

Does what I did for entertainment seem so odd to you?
It shouldn't considering the irony of you calling me out on it as the sole reason you posted in this thread. Actually that's quite funny.

I have no issue with your grammar as what you are saying is able to be understood. The only reason I had an amusing hissy fit was that I didn't know what he was saying due to his bad grammar and I was incredibly bored.

Anyway, have a nice day. Enjoy your intelligent conversations with your PHD holding friends.

actually there is no other reason to say stuff like that UNLESS you have some sort of issue. the funny part when someone gets called out on this type of thing is to resort to it being a joke

also using good grammar isn't really important. there are several studies that have shown we can figure out what the person is saying regardless of spelling OR grammar. also the more intelligent you are the easier it is to figure out what they are saying, so if you have an issue understanding him, guess what that says about you?

guess you in your wisdom missed my earlier post in the thread before you? you're powers of observation are astounding my friend. oh yeah guess what observation is a sign of as well?

Anyway, have a nice day. Enjoy your intelligent conversations with your PHD holding friends.
oh i will, tho one is currently at a brewery having a cinder block busted on his groin with a sledgehammer

With me It all depends on how they act when they come up to me. Like if they walk over to me and say something like hey, whats up, or how you been I'll usually talk with them. But if they come up and act like a totally douche-bag I just shrug them off and if they try to get my attention thats about the time I insult them or tell them to fuck off and/or to go away.

Well I officially apologise for trying (admittedly in a very exaggerated fashion) to maintain the integrity of the Escapist's forums. And yes I did find that post an effort to understand,if you think that reflects badly on me then so be it.
I do not wish to quarrel with you over such small issues.

I don't even talk to the people I liked at school. I do feel your pain though OP. I work in a pub...I have to serve people who treated me like shit at school. I'm pleasant enough about it...sorta my job. But I do resent them as they seem so happy and well adjusted...and I'm a fuck up.
