FPSs go on the 360 if there's a split screen option (other than that those go on my PC), then usually I toss a coin to decide.

I love both dearly, but I honestly just got the ps3 for the blu-ray, Metal gear, and annoying "friends" who all play it. none of the other exclusives do it for me (opinion!) and the multi-plat games tend to look a liiiiittle better on 360. However, whenever a 360 game is also on PC, there's no question, PC all the way. It doesn't really affect which I buy for, but I also prefer the 360 controller. just saying.

Huh, I sold my PS3 but I dunno, maybe I made the wrong decision as the 360 hardware is looking more and more dated compared to the PS3.

i usually reserve my 360 for 360 exclusives. I buy all multi-platformers for the PS3. Its free online, there is no competing with free. its unbeatable.

If a game is multiplayer heavy i get it on the PS3 as I don't have a gold account. Sometimes games run better or worse on one system or the other, so I'll get whatever runs better in those cases.

Of course, if it's out on PC I always get it for that first.

I get exclusives for PS3, most cross-platforms for 360 because that's where my friends are. RTS's and most non-exclusive RPG's for PC (Other than ME2 because I bought ME1 for 360 before I built my PC.

My PS3 is reserved for those few exclusive titles I can't get on 360. Everything else I get the 360 version. This is the case for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that I enjoy getting acheivements. All other things being equal, I'd go 360 solely for the addition of some gamerscore to my total.

The trophy system was added to the PS3 so late, and the execution so poor that I can't be bothered to deal with it.

Largely, execution is what leads the rest of the decision. I prefer using my 360. The dashboard is better, the gamercads (profiles) are better, the online component is better, the avatars are better, the accessibility of downloadable content is better, even the controller is better.

There's also a case to be made that since the 360 is usually the native sku and the PS3 version of any multiplatform title a port that the 360 version often runs better.

All in all, the 360 fulfils my needs as a gamer more effectively than the PS3, and for that I'm more interested in playing my games on it.

As pieces of hardware, I like the 360 and PS3 about equally. Last generation I had 2 PS2's die on me, and swore off Sony, I was an MS man all the way with my OG xbox. This generation MS has pissed me off by refusing to allow me to use my G25 on their system, so if I have to get the xbox version to play a game so be it, but any cross platforms I will pick up a PS3 copy to spite MS.

I used to play the PS3 more. That's just because i'd had it longer and had more games for it. I'd still play it more now but it died. So I'm stuck playing either the waiting game or the 360's games whilst it gets repaired.

I love my ps3, I got a 360 because multi platformers tend to be better there, the fact that my 360 WILL die makes me mad though.

I'll buy multiplayer games for the PS3 as most of my friends own PS3s. The 360 is mainly used for RPGs and 360 exclusives.

For some inexplicable reason, I almost always favor the 360 even though I have both consoles. I couldn't tell you why. Though now that I've canceled my xbox live I suppose I'll be favoring the PS3 for online from now on.

my determination is based on the type of game and more importantly the type of game my friends want to play. If it is a favorite of my xbox friends like mw2 i play it on xbox. In the case of borderlands that is favored by my ps3 people. That is the deciding factor we all get together and discuss what we want to play.

I have a Wii and a 360.

Do I count?
Sure does, but the point was for games that are on multiple consoles and often games on the Wii aren't release on the other due to the nature of the controllers.

If you can come up with games that were on both, why not?
I just can't think of any, right now.

For multiplayer that I know my friends are going to be into, 360. Otherwise I go with the PS3, I hate having a red-ring of death stop me from gaming for a month. Such a pain.
Enjoying that avatar over there. :p

OT: I technically own both, seeing as the PS3 is a family thing, whilst I bought my 360 with my own lucre.

That isn't to say I've even played the PS3 though, but I don't damn care, as long as they play games I'm rather happy.

My boyfriend has both, but still calls the PS3 Failstation... why he got one, I'll never know.
I know he'd get an Xbox game because all his friends are on Xbox, so he'd play with them.

Me neither, now that I think about it...

If you don't count spinoffs, like Dead Space Extraction...
It's not that I don't count spinoffs.
If I take your example... you buy Dead Space on Xbox360 and Extraction on the Wii... you don't end up with twice the same game.
