I know that I am incredibly excited for Skyrim to come out. I have never properly played an Elder Scrolls game save a few minutes faffing about with Oblivion at my friend's house, though I have played through Fallout 3. I was reluctant to get Oblivion due to the rate at which Fallout went from fun to boring, however after playing Oblivion a bit and listening to my friend's description of the game in action, which I barely got to see, I decided Bethesda's fantasy-style games are worth trying. Enter Skyrim...

My plans are to play through the game as an Elder Scrolls incarnation of Beowulf. We recently read that story in World Literature in school, and I must say I loved the original tale. I loved it so much, I decided I could be Beowulf, son of Ecgtheow, romping through Tamriel. I figure it will be quite fitting, in fact. The game world of Skyrim looks very Nordic, and Beowulf fights a dragon at the end of the story, after killing Grendel and Grendel's Mother.

So, tell me, Escapists, what do you want to do with Skyrim?

I currently have no roleplay plans, but I they usually come after I become familiar with the game. I guess I will focus on the story the first playthrough, then explore the game the subsequent playthroughs.

Female Wood Elf Assassin probably (depends really on each race's starting stats), with dual wield daggers and a bow. Not a Dark Brotherhood assassin though, just someone who is very good at killing people. She just happens to like killing bad guys.

The awesomeness shall rock the heavens.

Dunmer Heavy Armor Thief. First, I plan on stealing a bunch of stuff. Then, I plan on hurting a bunch of stuff. And if all goes well, I'll hurt stuff while stealing stuff. I'm a devious one aren't I?

I will be an Argonian most likely, and I will be the best fighter ever. :) I will duel wield longswords, wear light armour, and jump around, killing peeps with my badass swords. And dragons. By the end of the game, I will have tons of Dragon Shouts. And it will rock.

Probably either an Imperial with decent magic and light armor for my standard hit and run tactics with the occasional sneakiness, or a Nord with pretty much the same thing, only different melee weapon specs.

I'll probably do what I usually do with Bethesda games. I'll create and delete several characters just to get used to the game and how it works then once i'm satisfied i'll make my permanent character who will use heavy armor and use two swords at the same time. Not sure what race to go with, i'm thinking Kajhit. Something about a cat guy wearing heavy armor and using two swords at the same time seems bad ass.

I plan to recreate my Morrowind character like I did in Oblivion. A Dunmer assassin type character. If they stick with Oblivion's model of alchemy, then I'll also use that. Assassin characters are OP when used in conjunction with alchemy.

Enjoy playing it.

Well, that's the obvious answer. :) Really, I'll probably just get a kick out of exploring the world (it's Elder Scrolls, I'm taking it for granted we'll get an actual open world, as opposed to a pseudo-open world as in Fable 3 & Dragon Age) slaying random beast and fighting my way through tombs.

Also, owning at least one house. There's always something satisfying about owning a residence in game, I find.

I'll probably decide on what kind of character/race/class I want to play as once I get the game proper, but not before then.

I plan to wait a year or two so I can buy it with all the DLC on the disc.

But my race will likely be Altmer or Kajit (cat, however you spell it) depending on race bonuses.

I'll probably play it with two swords, but there is a chance that I will play as an archer if the stealth system is far superior to Oblivion, or a mage if the magic system turns out to be cool.

If they have a karma system I will play as true good (doing what is best regardless of what the game considers good and evil).

I plan to make a Breton Heavy Armor magic user and just walk explore the hell out of the game, barely ever touching the main story. Thats what I did for Oblivion and I had a lot of fun with it.

Dark Elf Warrior/Mage, specialising in Blade, Destruction, Restoration, Restoration, Block, Marksman and Light Armour.

That style of character works out perfectly for me in Oblivion.

Argonian Marksman Stealthy Assassin Asshole. Yep, that'll be me.

After that.

Argonian Fire Mage Conjurer Goody-Two-Shoes.

Then.

Argonian Blademaster Powerhouse Self-righteous Selfish Dick.

What? Argonians rock.

Make a mage, ignore the main quest (unless it's actually good or I have to progress in it to spawn dragons) and walk the earth finding shiny things and fucking shit up with custom spells*.

*Assuming the rumors of no spellmaking aren't true.

For the first time ever I get to play a f*****g dragon hunter in an Elder Scrolls game. Never could before. I'm not quite sure on the sex and race of him/her yet, but I've got general character.

Heavy focus on blade and bow, a uncomplicated grasp of magic (primarily dealing in the new traps spells) stealthy but not a thief more used to get the first drop on my reptilian prey. He/she'll be downright introverted and terse. Gruff, but with a bit of an altruistic streak.

I'm thinking about him having a grudge against the dragons and a refusal to develop his dragon shouts anymore than the game might deem necessary (like if they make you take one). However I might hold off on that build for another game because I really want to see those shouts in action.

Here's hoping they include hard-core mode for Skyrim too!

Nord Warrior. Yes I'm so creative.

I usually tend to play the race that is suited to the region for my first playthrough. In Morrowind I played a Dark Elf, in Oblivion I played an Imperial so in Skyrim I'll play a Nord.

It's funny that you mention Beowulf because I was also planning on naming my character after a character out of that film.

After all my character stuff is out of the way I intend to play until I die of an orgasm overdose... Or until my Xbox explodes, either one. I actually have a 2 week holiday booked off from work to sit and play it, can't wait!
