Well, as logic goes if you sift around in mounds of spewed shit you'll find a fleck of gold, EVENTUALLY. However, Ctrl+Alt+Delete like some things can be a matter of taste, I might say; if you're the kind of person who finds it funny, well, great for you.

Yahtzee does give a good argument against CAD, though.
The comparison between those two similar comics from CAD and PA was really great.
I still found the CAD one funny.

Just because Yahtzee hates the comic, you guys hate it too? Have you guys ever actually read any of it and decided for yourselves if you like it or not?
Yes. I've been reading CAD for years, and before my very eyes, I saw a comic that I used to find had some good moments slide down into a spiral of self-indulgent storylines and inferior writing.
Ok, that's fine. It just bugs me how everyone here is basically saying "it sucks because Yahtzee says it does" rather than "it sucks because I've looked at it and it sucks". But I agree, End_Boss, I don't care for CAD and prefer Penny Arcade or VGCats (sorry Meado).
Actually, the reason they brought up Yahtzee's hatred of CAD in this thread was because the original post said that those who enjoy Yahtzee will also enjoy Ctrl-Alt-Del. They were pointing out that it might actually be unlikely, since Yahtzee detests CAD and his humour appeals mainly to those who share his views.
Yeah, looking back on the whole thread, I can see that you're right. Sorry, I just got all preachy for a minute there, "Think for yourselves", etc.

CAD sucks overall, and for those who have read Yahtzee's views about why it sucks, of course you can still like CAD but it's still very hard to argue his point.

Anyway, CAD seems better when it's more "Random" (I'm too lazy to find the comics, but you should know what I'm talking about) - since it's better at structuring jokes, and they are usually funny.

I don't understand all this CAD hatred. It's not the best and some of the comics miss the point, but I still like them.

I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with CAD, i just think that when you compare it to stuff like penny arcade, daily dinosaur comics, 8 bit theatre, dr mcninja and questionable content, there are fewer good plot developments, fewer laugh out loud moments and i think in general it's not as well drawn (8BT being the obvious exception to that)

The CAD one was good for a cheap chuckle; the PA one looked like it took some effort was just generally better.

As for Charlie Brookers Screenwipe. If anyone hasn't seen that, do what Anarchemitis says & watch it; watch every episode of it.

The example Yahtzee uses is a fairly good one at first glance, what appears to be the punchline in the CAD comic happens in the first frame, however, the ACTUAL punchline is where it should be, in the last frame, where the hero does what anyone else would do, and takes the easy way out.

The reason it's funny is Tim is pointing out the absurdity of the game, and as a kicker, going "this it what I'd do".

The two most unfunny productions in the world, then?

CAD, where the first frame is the joke and the next three are spent trying to explain that joke. CAD, where Buckley still uses Matrix jokes four years after the movie first came out. CAD, where apparently wimmin' are nothing but tools for sex. CAD, where Buckley models himself after the supreme, popular main character - or should that be the other way around? CAD, where Jack Thompson jokes never get old!

Angry Videogame Nerd? Is that the one who thinks he's pro because he can use some of the special features on Sony Vegas to produce himself a few times wearing 'hilarious' outfits? Angry Videogame Nerd? Who's too poor to review new games? Who fails to get sponsorship from YouTube because they think he rigged his views? Yeah, I remember him.

CAD? It's trash. It has always been trash. People don't hate it because Yahtzee does, they hate it for the same reason he does... it's awful.

Aside from the fact the creator is a supremely arrogant and immature douche who may have disturbing (possibly illegal) sexual habits, the comic itself shows zero artistic talent, little originality, bad timing, and any time it comes close to being somewhat funny, it ends up stumbling over its own feet, either through the pointless and often needless adherence to a four-panel format (often neccessitating filler that throws off the whole joke), or by explaining the punchline in the most verbose and unfunny manner possible.

CAD is not intentionally funny to anyone who has taste. Laughing WITH CAD? If you do this, you need to reevaluate your taste in comedy. Laughing AT it is all there is for those with taste in humor.

I'll agree that CAD has it's moments, but I honestly can't see what it's done to deserve all the popularity. Then again I don't like gag comics too much, especially when they have poorly executed ctrl-c ctrl-v artwork when it's updates M/W/F and the artist even does it for a living. If it'd been something he did for fun and updated Monday to Friday, then he'd at least have a something of a excuse for all the copypasting.
I am also aware of the fact that CAD has some story, but it's not enough, both quantity and quality wise, to overshadow the gags.
Although I do follow it; it's far from the worst out there.

I love VG Cats, glad to know others here know about it :).
I love VG Cats because it's terribly wrong. It's like laughing at the terribly tragic train wreck for the fact that the train flipped over 3 times. It's not really something like Yahtzee as it's just more ribald rather than angry.

I don't know - I wouldn't say people who like Yahtzee like rantviews in general - it's more like they like punchy comedy and entertainment more than anything else, which is why any "funny" reviewer in general should be taken with an extremely large grain of salt. I would wager that if you polled the people in this thread, you'd find that people like similar things which are funny, and not necessarily angry.

I can't find Yahtzee's review of CAD on his Fully Ramblomatic site. Anyone know the exact link?

Could somebody post a link or something to this rant of Yahtzee's about CAD? I tried finding it on fullyramblomatic.com but couldn't. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: sorry, didn't see that other request for it

Hmmm, interesting topic. Well I'm not a super mega Yahtzee fan, but I kinda agree with CAD being lame. The so called "punch-lines" are to hard to underestand, there's to much violance wich seems to be the leading "joke" in the comic it selfe. To much action movie referance, along with not funny game referance (Kane&Lynch jokes or the Assassins Creed one, STLAKER an etc) and the drawing style? Well just makes me think that someone watched to much American anime parodies

And about VGCats. Well it's hard to say, the comic bassicly has it's UP and DOWNS, the UPS, I would sum as in sometimes funny gaming jokes and the charachters being cartoon like, plus beings cats(well it's original for me, since you can't find a comic like that), and the DOWNS, well to much jokes about sex, pointless killing and well to MUCH random stuff (sometimes random stuff is funny but when you over do it, it becomes annoying like listening to your, younger brother crying every bloody night), and sometimes really stupid gaming parodies or on movies/animes. But I guess both VGCats and CAD without a sex/pointless killing or dumb game/movie joke, is like Jack Thompson without a game lawsuit

Oh, while I'm at it, might as well post my thoughts on Angry Nintendo/Video Game Nerd.

He sucks. It tells you something when The Irate Gamer is a watered-down version of the Angry Video Game Nerd, and as a result, is BETTER. Angry Nerd basically makes two sentences about a game, plays it poorly on purpose so he can yell "FUCK!" and then that's all he has for a script, so he buys time painfully trying to think of ways to swear that maybe somebody might find funny because they're 10 years old and swearing isn't allowed. I can seriously see it in his face that he's trying to think of new ways to swear on the spot because he has nothing else to say.

But credit where credit is due, I did think he did a good job of reviewing the Ninja Turtles movies.

I'm disappointed. I came to this thread looking for maybe an intellectual discussion on Yahtzee and his reviews, and instead I was inundated with spite and hatred. But I guess it's too late to get onto what should have been the topic of this thread, so I'll just leave it at that.
