I bought it for 3 dollars (it's three dollars here in Australia for some reason) and from what I've played, it's okay, I guess. The story is somewhat interesting, but as Yahtzee also pointed out, everyone, EVERYONE in the game is INSUFFERABLY smug or smarmy or sarcastic or dismissive. Especially the main character - even if you try to play him as straight and professional as possible, he still has this irritating, cocky half-smile on his face. Maybe he stops being like that later on in the game - I sure hope so. I'm also enjoying the fact that so far I haven't run into any bugs. I do remember that the game was (in true Obsidian Fashion) incredibly buggy and poorly optimized when it first came out. I'm glad to see that, like with New Vegas, the bugs have been fixed.
So far I'm having an okay time with it. There are still a few quirks - I don't like the cover mechanic, and the guards still have this.... bizarre tendency to run up to you and punch you when they first see you, and then only start firing as they back away. It's really weird. They have guns.... yet they will run all the way over from a considerable distance just to.... punch you ONCE in the face... then slowly back away firing their weapons? Buh? Wuh? Why?
The Hacking mini-games are nice and challenging and as long as you put a lot of points into assault rifles, the shooting ain't too bad. The graphics are decent for a game of its size and it has a story worth telling, even if the voice actors all sound like they are trying to be a little bit too James-bondy. It was CERTAINLY worth what I paid for it, but I don't think I would have been too happy buying it for 89 Australian Dollars, which was the price here when it first came out.
