I'm just wondering what other peoples opinions on it is

I'd state my opinion, but if you want my opinion you might as well watch Yahtzee's review of it only take out the curse words and add some rant about it being insultingly easy even on hard!

EDIT: I'm asking this because I'm surrounded by people who say it's good because

1) It's starwars
2) It has nice graphics
3) it's easy (mash X until you have to mash Y)

Amazingly short and had lots of padding. There were sections in it that blew my mind but it was way too long and lost its "bad-assery" from the repetition. Combat is amazing but the fun is lowered by the very, very limited enemies. Story was pretty sub-par and the homage to the Original Trilogy characters was laughable. The sad thing about Force Unleashed II was that it could have been a great game.

All that, and the Force Lightning is a huge game breaker. You should not be able to kill every enemy you come across with it.

The protagonist is named "Starkiller".

Yeah... seriously. As in killer-of-stars.

One way or the other, that's all you need to know.

I like how this week's Extra Credits sums up un-satisfyingly easy games.. this game distinctly lacked Depth compared to the original. The clone angle was somewhat intriguing, but seemed like they were really kinda stretching to try and shoe-horn a justification for a light-side sequal in there... a more interesting story I think would be expanding on the 'Sith Edition' DLC story of Starkiller as 'Lord Starkiller', Palpatine's new hench-badass.

Everything gameplay wise was over-simplified. From the lightsaber combat (though lightsabers themselves were buffed, gone are the invigorating combos.. the first game was like Devil May Cry set in the Star Wars franchise and was made all the more awesome for it), to the upgrade systems. Sure you're over-powered, that's what was so great about the first one, it made being a Jedi feel truely Epic. Now, you're over-powered in a distinctly boring way since so much gameplay depth was hoovered out.

About the only thing I think the game really has going for it is more effective use of Vader. I'm not talking about the boss-fight, though some may complain about the mechanics and not being able to 'fight' Vader like he was Episode II Yoda on crack (He's a quadruple amputee for crissakes!), it was still very Effective overall. The implacable menace of his first apperance, the 'stalking' of you leading up to the boss fight, the way he just seemed to absorb your attacks during the fight. In the first game a big complaint was how weak Vader seemed, but now he's back in all his intimidating glory.

If Lucas wanted to make an action game, please give it to someone competent, like... oh, someone who makes Devil May Cry or God of War...

It's really short so I didn't buy it... but I absolutely loved the demo.

If the full game's like that, it's good, even if repetitive as hell.

I dont meant to..nit pick

Star Killer was given his name as a homage to what luke skywalkers original name was going to be (Luke Starkiller). It was changed because..it was a bit lame but

think about it..

Death Star

Star Destroyer

Skywalker

Starkiller isn't too radical given the other names. And i forgive them, sinceit was a homage to the past

As for the game, i *liked* the first, but havent bought / played it yet for fear of..shortness

Being a homage to the past doesn't excuse something from being stupid.

"Starkiller" is a stupid name no matter how you try and present it. It's the kind of thing I would expect from a thirteen year old choosing his first screen name.

Those other names are a bit silly, but at least they make some sort of sense. The Death Star is big, round, floats about in space and kills stuff. It's an artificial star that brings death. Star Destroyers (they're the big triangular wedge-shaped ones, right?) are like navy destroyers that go in space.

As for "Luke Skywalker", I'm guessing his name got changed because somewhere during the production some plucky individual piped up and said, "Umm... Mr Lucas sir, "Starkiller" is a really stupid name. How about something less retarded?"

I seem to remember there also being an NPC called something-or-other Starkiller in KoTOR.

I may be wrong though - it's been a while since I last played it.
