Over attachment to symbols is disturbing.
I agree with this fellow, i've never be patriotic tbh.

Plus once you got a flag, protesters got something to burn... because you can't spell patriotic without riot >.>

(I just came up with that then, I know it's sad)

I think this is the same when people complain about some immigrants being bad at english when they come to Australia. Or how they don't fly "our" flag or have "odd" customs. It doesn't really matter to me; I believe if you live in Australia (or your country of choice) then Australia live in you. I mean, they stay there so they are obviously happy to be where they are.

I, regrettably, live in oh so wonderful Southern California and I fly a huge ass Welsh flag off the front of my house.

Why?

Because I'm Welsh and I love my goddamned country.

If it wasn't for work, I wouldn't be here right now.
Not that I have a problem with America... I have a problem with the suck up rich snobs who thing they own the world and their kids who pout and refuse to budge unless everything goes exactly their way all the time and have to make hard decisions like "Should I get daddy to buy me a horse or a new car?"

I hate this place, not America as a whole... Just the part of it I'm stuck in... and that's why I fly my huge ass Welsh flag.

Oh and because your beer sucks.
You most posses the sole Welsh flag in the state of California lol.
Could you move back to Wales? Or indeed another part of the US?

If immigrants want to remember their homelands, fair enough. Give it time, they make their own little addition to the national culture - I don't imagine many Americans would want to scrap St. Patrick's Day celebrations and hanging out Irish flags, but if any think it should be America first, you should apply the same rules there.

Where I live people generally only hang out flags when it's Queen's day, the European or world football cup or when they've got something special to celebrate (like a graduation). Otherwise most of the flags you see are Italian ones pointing out where you can find a pizzeria.

So yeah, I really don't care what kind of flag you hang out, although I do tend to see people who don't do it outside of special occasions as nationalists. Of course a lot of Americans tend to be a lot more sensitive about this, but I guess that's just a cultural difference.

Of course you should be able to. Though these things about flying a different flag higher or fly this flag but you HAVE to fly this flag I just don't understand.

Well, there's plenty of american flags flying around japan, korea, the UK, China, Thailand, IN THE FUCKING OCEAN, Germany and so forth. So, why should it be ok for us, but not for them? A person should be proud of their heritage, to suggest otherwise is to dismiss everything the United states stands for, and has achieved.

I have a problem with people so stuck up in their own heritage that they're unable to function in any other kind of enviroment than their own.

As far as flags go however.........

You forgot the moon!

And as for my views, I live in a place where I can walk ALL OVER the place and MAYBE see a couple flags.
Besides schools and Public buildings, I can't recall a single residential house I know to even have a flagpole. Come to think of it.. My high schools flagpole didn't even have a flag on it! They were all in the lobby, many flags, mostly South American flags, as well as Mexico.
You might stand out by having a foreign flag here cause you'll probably be the only one on the street with a flag at all!
The only time you see lots of flag waving around here is Canada day and that's about it.
All in all, I don't care, and I never knew anyone who cared, and I don't know why anyone should care what flag you do decide to put out. As for my families choice, we had a flag in the shape of a kite.

In contrast to when I went to visit the States.. I was baffled, every house looked like it was ready for the fourth of july! Every house had the same flag coloured house and lawn decorations, and someone even had a big rectangular rock outside their house painted up like an American flag. I almost couldn't believe it.

It pisses me the hell off seeing a band of mexi's flying their flag and having no American flag flying above it. Fuck that shit, they can come and mooch like pro's while showing no respect for the country that keeps them afloat. Pretty aggavating, IMO.

I would say, please only fly a foreign flag if they have the American flag above it or at least beside it. =D

I see no problem, but there is a law on the books that a foreign flag can not be flown higher than an American flag. I think you get a huge fine or something. I know it isn't jail time.

Yes I think this should be enforced immeadiatly, also if you wear anything not linked to the US you are shot on site, so wearing a bowler hat and a monacle is an instant burning at the steak. Gawd I love amricha(wipes away tear)

i think you should fly what ever flag you want to fly.
if you feel passionate about it then you should do it as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.

As long as they're not extremists who pose a threat to me, you can fly your underwear with a sword stuck through it for all I care.

So no, it should not be illegal. This IS a free country after all, right?

No, its fine. it just helps prove my point that you cant hate America without hating your own country. We are everyone.
