There are some franchises that I really miss nowadays: Tenchu (although Shadow Assassins isn't bad), LOK Soul Reaver (Defiance is a lousy end), Syphon Filter (quit focusing on the PSP will ya), Onimusha. There's so much potential for great new games in them...and yet nobody seems willing to revive them properly.

*sigh*..Probably just nostalgia speaking.

Does any one of you hope to see the revival of a certain franchise?

I would love to see the Star Fox franchise return with something awesome. I keep holding out hope that eventually, the franchise will get bought out by Microsoft a la Banjo Kazooie, leading to the online Arwing dogfights we've always wanted.

Oh yeah.

Lylat Wars was one of my favourite games on the N64. I'd love to see another one of those in the same spirit as that one.

Do a barrel roll!

Tenchu, Ape Escape and Timesplitters. Why are you such sadistic bastards by taunting us with concept art, Crytek? WHY?!

A lot of my fave ones just turned into shit. Tomb Raider, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot... Bleh bleh.

If they would release another Total Annihilation though, I'd be happy.

NO!
NO!
and erm...
NO!

Remakes, de-makes, reboots, prequels all seem to have one thing in common.
They
Suck.

They're products where the primary selling point is your nostalgia, no matter how good the game is when it comes out you will always be disappointed. You will always compare it to the impact the original game had on you, which the new one will fail to match every time.

Leave the ace old games as they are and appreciate them. Don't have your memories wrecked by a sub par resurrection.

With "revive" I meant new games or sequels. Imagine a Tenchu/ Onimusha/ Syphon Filter with a new story and lead character. Or in the case of LOK Soul Reaver: a continuation of the series cuz judging from the end of Defiance...it's not over yet.

That's even worse.

When that happens you have an in name only sequel. They always suck, if the game was good enough to stand on it's own it would have a unique name. Instead the makers know it sucks, so they tack on a long dead franchise name to dupe people into sales that way (see: Turok, Prince of Persia 2008, Bionic commando, Silent Hill- everything since 4, Far Cry 2, Alone in the Dark and many more!).

If it's a new game with a new story and a new lead it's not related, it should stand on it's own.

Heh..what can I say Mr. Doom and Gloom...I guess you just don't see any potential in it. Which is something else than there not being any.

Wing Commander! It's been way too long since the release of the last big, mass market space combat sim. I doubt many people even remember the genre anymore. Such a shame EA dropped the franchise and killed the studio.

Descent Freespace. A space flight/dog fight simulator that didn't quite get the attention it really deserved.

It'd be nice to see a modern rendition with current computer graphics. For it time it was amazing visually with all the huge explosions from massive motherships and the big dog fights off the distance as you're out trying to complete objectives.

I would love to see KOTOR or Star Wars Battlefront make a comeback. I guess KOTOR technically has a sequel of sorts with TOR though.

Chrono Cross, Twisted Metal (well they fixed this problem), and Sly/Jak and Daxter. I read somewhere that Sly 4 is coming but I'm skeptical until I see official confirmation.

See, a good new installment of Shadow hearts would be ace, or an update of either of the original two. They were so much fun...
