Phosphor Games, filled with former Midway developers, have taken the former Awakened game, That they showed off before [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.260323-Awakened-Shows-What-Midways-Hero-Could-Have-Been#9829839] have taken to kickstarter in an attempt to get this unique game created.

For those who want the short, sweet, version of it. You create a hero that you can give any sort of ability to. You want make a hero who creates Tornadoes? Go for it. You want a bad-ass Snake-Eyes Ninja? Go for it. You want to turn to stone and blow people up? It's yours.

It currently has 29 days left and is up to an impressive $26,141 of the desired $500,000.

Take a look at the kickstarter page below to see more info on what looks to be an extremely fun game, should funding succeed.

What do you guys think? Is this something you'd want to experience? These kinds of games I've always loved and seeing it outside of the MMORPG area would be fantastic.

Too good to be true honestly. As well as not giving us enough information.

Do they have any investors backing this game as well? Is the game an RPG or action/adventure? Open World or Linear? Does whatever character you create have any role in this game besides being some kind of super hero? What's the story? How is the game played? What KIND of character creation are we talking here? Are we able to create our characters detail by detail cosmetically? Something like remodeling the characters entire face and/or body almost inch by inch?

So many questions and A LOT of promises.

Lastly, only 500K? How is a game like they are describing only worth 500k as well as using the new Unreal 4 Engine? This game sounds like something that would cost MILLIONS to make. The whole thinngnsounds fishy to me.
Read the kickstarter page and a lot of that will be answered. They, like a lot of kickstarter devs, are using this to show publishers that there is, indeed, a lot of gamers out there willing to take a shot on such an IP. I believe they even mention something to the effect of that in the video.

Our objective with Project Awakened is to create a robust world of incredible beauty where you can play with your powers, see real effects of your abilities on a thriving modern world, and yet still get the tight, story-driven experiences that make action games so compelling. We will build a hub-and-spoke game world, where players will explore a rich city environment, and then venture off into more linear storytelling areas that have specific puzzles and combat scenarios that can be approached differently depending on the character. The AI in the game and the world itself will be built in such a way that they will respond to any potential power the player has at their disposal in a realistic environment. Each playthrough with different characters and different powers will feel different than the last.
There's a few answers to your questions right there. From the Kickstarters page. Give the kickstarter page a once over and it will answer most of the concerns you have. Or they'll get pulled off and end up with egg on their faces.

Guys, if you're going to show off powers that look way too much like Alex Mercer or Cole McGrath powers, don't show them off using a guy wearing a white hoodie. For all the game seems to want to be, it honestly feels kinda derivative. Like nothing they're showing off hasn't been done before in a preexisting game with a more apparent focus.

Eh, the promises are eerily reminiscent of Fable's. I'd be interested in it if/when it came out, if it lived up to its lofty goals. I wouldn't back it.

Especially since they need and expect way more than $500k. The line in the video says, "We have other sources of funding, but we need your help to get off the ground," which... is really vague and not at all reassuring. Or how they play up modding in the video, but even just "basic" modding support is a stretch goal.

I dunno whether to call it sketchy or to call it naive, but it ain't something I'd give money to.
