FortressCraft creator decides to be an arrogant dick

Now, there's no getting around it, FortressCraft is a ripoff. It took similar gameplay and ideas from Minecraft and ported it to the 360 with a paint job, consciously trying to ride off the success of Minecraft (my personal threshold to "ripoff" territory). Even if you don't believe it's a ripoff, you can't deny all that.

Some notable quotes include but are not limited to "but the actual gameplay is nothing like Minecraft," "Minecraft has been squeezed out of its own market... but if you want sexy graphics and shaders and the creative aspect, you have FortressCraft."

I can imagine how this guy must feel, knowing that all he had to do was remake a game with a different development kit and get insta-cash. I'm not saying FortressCraft is a bad game, and I'm not saying it shouldn't exist, but the creator could try be a bit less... like a giant, sweaty assburger with double bacon ass. Just a bit.

And if you play FortressCraft, I am completely indifferent (see: have nothing against you). Just wanted to put that out there.

Mods? You mean texture packs? Not sure if they are mods technically, but to me they hardly qualify.

There are some mods that do advanced things like make the lighting better or add ripples to water. Texture packs mostly just change the pictures on the blocks.

I can see his point Fortress Craft is intended to head in a far different direction than Minecraft, with build you own fort PVP and such.

However, it's an indie game were you create stuff with blocks... It's like the whole Coke/Pepsi thing.

I'm fine with the PR speak that talks about how they have expanded on ideas and taken a genre in it's own direction. Im even fine with a game taking an idea from someone else and then at least making an attempt to make it their own and put new ideas out there. But seriously, show a little respect to the people who gave you your inspiration. This game has a huge debt to pay to Minecraft. We all know that. Im not even talking about Royalties here. Just admit your creative pedigree. And if your worried about IP issues or getting accused of ripping someone off, just don't say anything.
