Its still a Minecraft ripoff, no matter how you change or turn it..

Part of the charm Minecraft has is its "outdated" graphics. Sure, this does look better than Minecraft, but thats not what counts imo...

Mojang Productions still has my support..

Nope, still a rip-off. Just because Mojang can't (and shouldn't) sue, it is still pretty damn clear that it wants a slice of the Minecraft glory.

If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, feels like a duck and plays like a duck... then what do you have?

Probably being a bit harsh there, but no-one can deny it looks very, very similar. One thing I saw in there was reflections on the water, they looked great and I think Notch could do with taking note of that. After all, they kind of owe him their whole game, so that's not so much to ask.

I'd never heard of this before, and yes yes blah blah it's a ripoff, it's still cool because I'm not much of a PC gamer and this looks accessible to me :)

Copyright or no the gameplay is still a ripoff.

As for the art style any Minecraft modder could have done it. Additional blocks arent too hard either.

I think the only reason its priced much lower than Minecraft is just to draw players away from buying Minecraft.

You know, Its not the fact that he wants to add his own ideas to Minecraft that gets me, I can totally see where the guy is coming from there. In fact, stuff like his fortress assault mode and water reflection are great, and as mods for the game he would get major support from the community. Those are the sort of things fans of the game would adore to have. Unfortunately, thats not what this person has done. Instead, they take those modes, and remade Minecraft entirely, and is now making a futile attempt to convince the community its not a rip off, made to cash in on Minecraft's success.

That video actually didn't make me think it was less of a rip-off, in fact it did the exact opposite, it somehow managed to make it look even worse.

Admittedly Minecraft ripped off a lot of InfiniteMiner when it was made, however it was only used as a base and expanded into something quite different from its source material whereas this thing isn't even trying to look like it's different.

Don't care if it's a rip-off, if they can actually make a good game as opposed to the autism lego simulator that is minecraft, they might have my money.

What I don't get is if you're going to make an "HD" version like this, why not make the blocks smaller?? If each of the current blocks were made up of 4 blocks or even 9 blocks, it would both look better and allow significantly finer details in projects. You could have an option to drop 3x3x3 blocks of course for larger constructions.

In that case, Minecraft is just a rip-off of infiniminer.

There wasn't actually a single question or answer in that video, just a list of assorted statements. Also, 7 chapters each at $1?? Not quite the $3 total that was promised but that would be splitting hairs I guess.

Also, despite it saying all the graphics etc are "original" and created for the game, that's like me painting a tin of soup but saying it's original because I painted a tin of vegetable soup instead of tomato. The concept and execution is too similar for it to not be classified as a rip off.

I also don't think that anyone is really debating that point, but does that make it any more acceptable to blatantly rip off another game?? If I cheat on an exam, even if I cheat off someone who is cheating I'm still going to get a 0.

Plus, Infiniminer was a game nobody ever really heard of, everyone knows MineCraft. That doesn't make it more acceptable, but it does make it more blatant.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Will people please stop saying that fortresscraft is a carbon copy of minecraft from a BAD 50sec trailer that showed us the basic editing game mode.

I think minecraft is the birth of a new genre, in the same way one platforming game had to start things but guess what when other similar platformers with some differences, which fortress craft has if you check stuff up about it, they weren't called rip-offs they were just trying some slight differences with a new genre which fortress craft will do, well at least from what I know about it.

here are some differences that I know about already:
- different game mods
- different enemies (no creepers thank god, hate those buggers)
- regular 5 days updates which will mean that the game will change over time and hopefully go into a different direction then minecraft because I don't want to stick my neck out for this game for it to turn out just to actually be a minecraft rip-off.
- completely different coding
- something he keeps referring to as machinery

also they guy who has made that video isn't the person who made the game.

Here is my question, who gives a fuck if it's a rip off? I loved Minecraft, and I'd love to play something like it on my xbox. If it's a rip off that doesn't bother me at all.
