So as I've mentioned in a few previous posts recently, I was hit by the nostalgia bug recently (plus the fact that I've only ever seen the Duelist Kingdom and Battle City arcs to date) and decided to rewatch the entire Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, dubbed by 4Kids.

I just finished watching the Noah Arc, which takes place in the first half of Season 3. Now, this arc never actually took place in the original manga. It basically cuts the Battle City events into two seperate arcs, which take place in Season 2 and the second half of Season 3. This is all just technical stuff, but the Noah Arc was written in to make up for the delay in the manga of the Battle City plotline.

Anywho, right at the end of the arc, main character Seto Kaiba basically dismisses the entire plotline of the Noah Arc with a literal handwave, saying "this was all just a waste of my time. Now let's just forget this ever happened and never mention it again."

My reaction? You guessed it. Facepalm. To sum it up for those confused by paragraph 2:

- Yu-Gi-Oh! anime catches up to manga.
- Yu-Gi-Oh! anime gets filler arc in Season 3 to make up for it.
- At end of arc, main character dismisses it.
- Arc is never mentioned again.

So what I want to know is, has anyone else seen anything like that before? Whether for comedy or serious reasons (this case was actually serious), have you seen an instance where someone has effectively wiped everything previous from the slate and dismissed things with a literal handwave?

(P.S. No linking to TV Tropes please, I know there are countless examples there but I want to hear if you have any new ones...)

And since that's a fairly lame topic idea on it's own, we can also use this as a general 'fourth wall' discussion thread :D.

How does he dismiss it ever happened?, does he just say.."That was a combination of bad Shrooms and Drink, Nothing More!"...Coarse not its 4Kids dubbed..but my question remains.

LICD did it once, but that is a comic.

Hmmm..No other tv shows come to mind..Except Phineas and Ferb, im pretty sure they do it with regularity.

Bleach, in one episode during a very quiet part Kon shouts out "Hey! Why is it so quiet? Everyone is going to think there's a broadcasting problem!"

Deadpool breaks the fourth wall so much they may as well install a revolving door

Heh, the worst part is, the entire arc revolved around Kaiba's character exposition and his own stepfamily. And he dismisses it out of hand with just one comment, and it never gets mentioned again. That's pretty much why I facepalmed...

As many have said, Deadpool. Many times. Even in the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom 3 he'll break the fourth wall by doing things like beating his opponent with his health bar, among other things.

But Dragon Ball Z did this a few times as well.

Watch the last episode of Doomsday arcade again. Shanks not only passed the fourth wall, he also drove a storytelling bulldozer through it, set fire to it, and covered it in salt to stop anything from growing there ever again.

Sorry OP... you don't get the correct answer until the issue 4.

Also the villains in Funny Games break the 4th wall a few times.

In the upcoming Capcom vs. Marvel game, Deadpool will use his own health bar to beat his opponent to death. He's not breaking the fourth wall... it simply isn't even there.

Boston legal frequently broke the 4th wall. The characters would talk about wanting to be on cable, and whenever TV was brought up they'd rant about how all shows except for that one lawyer show sucked. And that's just the tip of the ice berg.

When they found out they were getting canceled, it became epic. They'd randomly rant about time slots and viewers poles. It was awesome.

I've actually just reminded myself with this of one Family Guy episode, I believe it was the first after it was reinstated on Fox following it's cancellation. At the start, the family are in the living room and Peter talks about all the other 'high-quality programming on Fox'. He then recites a massive list of this apparent 'high-quality programming', which is actually a list of every recent cancelled Fox show at the time, including Firefly. It turned out to be an absolutely massive list, much worse than I'd have previously thought...
