Who would play Faye though?
After watching Zombieland, I believe Emma Stone could play Faye Valentine. She's hot, she can act (at least I think so) and she's played a character with trust issues.

nononononono no a thousand times no. Loved the series, loved the movie, just make another animated movie, not a live action one. Please don't piss all over my favorite anime series of all time.
I wouldn't mind seeing a live action Cowboy Bebop movie. Even if Fox "pisses all over" the series, it's not a big deal; I can just go back and watch the anime AND the animated movie. All better XD

Even if its not very good, I'm still looking forward to it. I had heard about this, even the Keanu Reeves casting a long time ago, and since I didn't hear anything about it, thought the last few months it was cancelled. Heck, I'm just hoping that if they do do it right, it can help present a better view of anime to those that know nothing about it. ... Or I'll just get a few chuckles. Either works.

I love everything Keanu Reeves is in. I'm sure he'll make a great Spike. Who is gonna do Jet? Vin Diesel would make a good fit.

Since Fox also made the Dragon Ball movie I'd expect it to be of the same quality.

Dragon Ball Evolution raped my childhood more than any rule 34 I have ever seen.

Well, at least they can't whitewash it this time...

Keanu Reeves, aside from being Keanu Reeves, is also way too old. He's pushing 50, and Spike's barely 30. I honestly don't know who would play him. Hugh Jackman might be a good Jet though.

That's assuming this is actually happening; both this and Akira still just seem like rumors at this point. Granted, I would be happy if neither ever saw the light of day.

Good god, man! Don't say that! People might get ideas!

That's just what I was gonna say. I can remember getting excited when I heard that Fox green lite a live-action DBZ movie. But that was when I was young a naive.

Vin Diesel just doesn't seem old and weathered enough to be Jet, plus he screams camp. I'm thinking Mickey Rourke.

OT: Terrible, terrible news. I agree, Cowboy Bebop would translate terribly into a live action movie...especially one starring Reeves, captain of boring, as Spike

Sadly that wasn't even the first time they raped my childhood... They raped it once before, while I was still a child.

I actually saw this live when they had a showing in Toronto:

. . . Keanu fucking Reeves?

As spike!?

dude. are you trolling?

Because that is horrible.
If that is indeed true, this movie is already doomed. As much as it pains me to say it, even Nicolas Cage would make a better Spike than Reeves.

But seriously, how about Leonardo DiCaprio? In his past few outings, he's gotten over the whole Titanic thing and proven himself to be a damn good actor. I could maybe see him doing Spike some justice.

As for Jet, I think this could be a role that Vin Diesel could actually do well. Stand there, be buff and bald, look badass, maybe say a line or two, and then punch a few people in the face. He can pull that off, can't he?

Faye... I got nothing. As Movie Bob says, Hollywood has yet to prove that they can successfully produce a serious female action star not named Angelina Jolie. And she's getting a little old to keep it up by now. If even she can't do it, I don't know who could.

But seriously, Fox, get Keanu away from that camera!

Everybody can relax. It was supposed to come out this year, but according to this and this, it was just too expensive to make. Half a bill buys a lot of cocaine. The lesson to be learned here? Paying attention to the actual date of the articles in question and doing some very basic research could save you a lot of needles panty-bunching.

Personally, I like Keanu, but I agree he'd be a terrible Spike.

All I know of Cowboy Bebop is what I've learned from: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CowboyBebopAtHisComputer

However, any film with Keanu Reeves in a role that isn't "Department Store Mannequin" is going to be bad. And even then the role of Department Store Mannequin was done brilliantly by Kim Cattrall, she's THE Mannequin, in the same way that Michelle Pfeiffer is THE Catwoman.

So Keanu even fails at that. How sad.
