Heh, it's Faux News. The same company that won a lawsuit, which in effect allows them to broadcast anything they want, truthful or not (usually, not).

So please, could someone who lives in America please tell me: What kind of social/political/educational system exists in the good old US of A that produces a section of your population susceptible to that level of brain-washing?
We call it the Republican Party. Love 'em, hate 'em, they are very good at spin, propaganda, and mud-slinging. As well as outright lying. As for the percentage of the population that's been taken in or fooled (and fooled repeatedly) by the GOP, well, I can only guess why. Inbreeding, maybe.

I've already conceded that point. We've got 'em too, just not as many - hence why our lot have a newspaper and your lot have an entire broadcasting network. I suppose what I really meant (and worded badly, I'll admit) is that after so many cases where Fox have been proved to have altered stories, doctored photograph and film 'evidence' and so on, how are they still a respected and trusted news source to some people?

Obama to blame for soring debt crisis? is obama to blame for the NEA classifying videogames as art? Obama also to blame for your pet hamster dieing in the latest episode of Bill Oreilly.

Really, no Fox news stories should even be dignified with our attention. Maybe if we all stop paying attention to them, they will just go away. Nobody in the gaming community should give a shit about this because Fox news is a joke.

Whatever this is retarded anyway. Why pull out a game thats obviously financed by Billion-dollar companys. Fox-News obviously made a stupid point and its hard to beleive that anyone is still ignorant of videogames to actually beleive these oompa-loompas.

I am not American, but I have been there travelled around, met a lot of nice normal intelligent people who I could have good discussions with about multiple subjects, and this is how you are represented to the rest of the world, I feel sorry for you.

Where being noisy and obnoxious in a discussion wins you more points than being, intelligent, well mannered and decent, there has to be something very wrong.

Seriously?! Fox Wouldn't know Art even if Glenn Beck's smug face was on display in the MoMA

The intent of the segment seems as if it was meant to take a dig at the current leaders of the U.S. government using factually incorrect information and an over-animated critic, rather than a look at what's actually occurring in reality.
This is my problem with Fox. They did the exact same thing with artist Common in regards to his being a guest at the Whitehouse. Fox doesn't produce news, it produces means. As in means to an end. That end being to push some silly agenda which, at this point, seems to be criticizing the current administration. It's 100% shameful. The rhetoric has no respect for truth of any kind whatsoever, and I think the worst part is that a ton of people eat this kind of argumentation up and then actually digest it rather than it making them sick (as it does me). This kind of argument relies on people's belief, faith, trust in the system/person which is spewing the lies (or half-truths at best); it relies on those people to not look into the issue further; it relies on 1 part apathy mixed with 2 parts not thinking... but all is not bad and all is not over.

There's still a chance to actually come back into this whole thing, life that is, with people who are willing to think and actually enjoy it... I just hope that day comes sooner than any judgment day may.

Honestly this is the most saddest pathetic thing they still do. I'm angry at the fact that they keep on trying to stretch the truth, but I'm more infuriated that there trying to suppress the growth of an amazing for of media and art and that people will actually believe in what they say. I understand that they probably won't stop for a while, but the least everyone can do can do is try to get their facts straight.

Why do video games need government money at all?
Because many devs are too lazy to make up the funds themselves, and so push it on everyone else to fork out on their behalf.

Imagine if you could create a game that let autistic children practice social interaction in a safe enviroment which would allow them to have better lives! Took me 2 seconds to come up with an idea. Your turn.

These aren't "games" its using the normal video game control system and doing something positive and artistic with it.

Imagine something like shadow of the Collosis but no combat. You are just a small figure trying to avoid these hulking behemoths wandering the land. Alagory for small country trying to survive in the shadow of 1st world nations. Or the average Joe living in a world rules by corperate intrests under the illusion of a free market.

If you are against all art being funded then fair enough I can definatly see where you are coming from.

Fine. If that's your question, then ask it as such. And try not to sound as if you're implying that the UK doesn't have it's fair share of idiots and the Americans have a monopoly on the market. Which may be the answer to your question: because America if full of fucking idiots -- as is the entire world.

People keep saying, just ignore them, and they'll go away.

Sadly however, FAR too much of the general population actually believe FOX is reporting facts, surveys have regularly shown that FOX viewers know far less about current affairs than viewers of other news networks.

It's fairly obvious to me that they've seen how news TV and TV in general is in decline, and is losing market share to newer entertainment like the internet and video games, and of course the internet offers news instantly for free, so instead of trying to be BETTER to claw back an audience, they find it easier to demonise their opponents.

While I am abolutely not equating video game bias with racism, obviously racism is a huge problem still, and someone bashing games is small potatoes... remember it's only over time that people decided that maybe we should give equal rights to other colours of people, and the media then had to catch up. Things change because people are educated into not believing ignorant opinions that they're fed. If we'd just left racists alone, let them think they're right, that'd be seen as awful.

We do need to keep on fighting our corner, explaining every time someone turns from a TV or picks up a paper and says 'you see what those damn video games are doing to kids?', we need to explain that it's either outright balls, or the facts have been warped beyond recognition.

'No, dad, COD isn't art, and was never going to get funding. Just like starting, poor but talented artists might get a hand to get started, but that place where you can paint a plate and have them glaze it for you isn't handing out grants to every 5 year old who paints a wonky horse on a mug.'

Of course, this time around it's an even harder sell, because we're trying to sell the concept of spending tax dollars on art, when most people don't want tax dollars spent on their own health. 'Screw that, my tax is to be spent on soldiers and frying prisoners, that's it!'

I fail to see where anything Neil said was relevant to the entire debate. He was going on about the budget and I'm not even sure he could even hear the other guy at all, and grats to fox news for always letting their side get the last word in.
