Fox news got the facts right this time. WTF?
Not really:
Faux News said:
The company did not say whether the delay was related to the controversy.
Except they have explicitly said it wasn't related to the controversy.
The game will be available in stores and online, where customers must click a button stating they are 17 years of age or older -- the only barrier to children buying such a game.
That, the requirement to have, you know, some form of debit/credit card, and any child blocks their parents might have installed.

I like how they only listed "E for Everyone" and "T for Teen" when describing what the ESRB is, and never once mention the "M for Mature", only "!7 and up". That way, people will automatically make the connection that this game is somehow marketed towards younger audiences as people will skip the numbers and focus on the big letters.

Gearbox should have said "It's a throwback to the games of ole, just like how Grindhouse was a throwback to drive-in theaters. It's not meant to be offensive, just self-aware."

That's odd, Fox seems a bit timid in this article. Well not like their opinion is credible at all anyway.

I'd be a lot more worried if a Duke Nukem game didn't offend Fox News and objectify women. I mean... that's the whole point of the series, right?
I like the way you think sir. Fox, for once I applaud you for your work.

From the Faux news article:
"Following the what-were-they-thinking response shared across the gaming community, Gearbox announced Thursday yet another delay to the overdue game's release. Duke Nukem Forever, which had been slated for release May 3, is now scheduled for June 14.

The company did not say whether the delay was related to the controversy."

...Yes they did.

From the Escapist article:
"He also noted that the delay did not arise from complaints about the "ass smacking" in the game's "Capture the Babe" multiplayer mode. "Nothing is getting cut because of the delay," he wrote. "Some things are getting better, though.""

Seriously. This info was available. It was on the Escapist on the 25th. The Faux news article went up on the 26th.

Then again, I'm posting this thinking that Fox gives a shit about facts. Never-mind me.

EDIT:Ninja'd

Yea, sure, besides actually having a credit/debit card.

Umm... what's the big deal with the article? Seemed to be a normal news article to me. I wouldn't even go as far as to say they are raising a fuss about it. More along the lines of drawing attention to some questionable content, but they aren't calling for a ban or anything. Heck they even put the ESRB quote up "If you find that sort of thing offensive, simply don't let your kids buy the game."

QUICK QUICK SOMEONE GIVE A SHIT

Ahem, sorry.

Anyway, this was inevitable. Fox News were always going to latch onto this. Myself, I just see it as a big parody of chauvanism.

EDIT: They seriously censored a stripper's bum? How prudish are they?
This.

Oh and stop giving them hits people. Stop watching this stuff, thats why they do it. "Courting controversy" and all that [jazz].

The game's 1996 precursor Duke Nukem 3D -- which sold 3.5 million copies, made millions for its developers and transformed the entire world of video games
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Duke Nukem 3D transformed the entire world of video games? That's a fantastic joke! Duke Nukem 3D was just Doom with slightly less fun gameplay and a lot more one liners. Duke Nukem 3D didn't transform anything.

Thanks for the laughs, Fox News.

A new videogame that requires you to abduct women
Wierd i got the impression you had to save them from abduction.

"It was offensive then and it's even more offensive now," Jamia Wilson, vice president of the Women's Media Center, told FoxNews.com. "These depictions of women are extremely harmful, especially to young women," she added.
Laughed my ass of at that one. Not like the fashion models did the same for young women for ages now by letting then think being that bony/thin is attractive and natural.

the other points are already pointed out here

As much as I really really hate to agree with Fox News, I must admit that I found the idea of "capture the babe" really incredibly tasteless. Now, I realize that it's supposed to be ironic, probably the biggest nostalgia factor with Duke is that when we played Duke games as kids they were wildly inappropriate then, but now that we're adults they have to be even more wildly inappropriate just to keep up. That is to say that they didn't put immature things in because they wanted to be sexist, they put sexist things in because they wanted to be immature. That's fine and all if you realize that, but I do wonder about the image of the gaming community that it creates in the minds of people who don't realize that these things are supposed to be immature because the immaturity of it is the joke.
