I dont see the harm in it, MSNBC is extremely left wing where Fox is Right wing. And CNN is just never mind. No matter what its targeted audience is its going be like every other newstation in every other country, their just going talk about bullshit 99% of the time.
If you are saying that MSNBC is extremely left wing then you really need to say that fox news is extremely right wing. And may I ask what cnn is?
CNN is the Cable News Network, the first (to my knowledge) national 24 hour news channel in the US. They're mostly unbiased (with some reporters/hosts with a liberal bias), and are falling hard in the ratings, since people would rather hear what lines up with their beliefs than the truth.

I did already know that but I was asking what he think cnn is since he wrote "And CNN is just never mind."

To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the (Republican)Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again: and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself. That was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word "doublethink" involved the use of doublethink.

I am not a fan of fox news in particular but its so funny to me to see all the hatred. ALL news lies... its just a matter of whose lies fit in better with your chosen beliefs.
It's really more that Fox News' lies are much more obviously malicious fabrications as opposed to, say, honest mistakes.

You mean the same MSNBC that runs with Fox News stories without even so much as fact checking? That's your definition of extremely left wing?

Fox News sued for the right to lie on the grounds they're not really news, but entertainment. MSNBC ran the controversies about ACORN and Sherrod without so much as checking for facts or context. If you're going to run with false equivalence, at least don't opt for such transparently false examples.

Which really makes them no different from any other network, Fox, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN they ALL lie. And I mean LIE, keep thinking that the one you prefer is somehow different and better, and it only makes honest mistakes... lol

well the left wing tends to be more reasonable about things, fox tends to... well it wants to destroy the country if its not in power and it also really advocates for the rich and fuck everyone else. really fox is probably the most single damaging thing to america since a stupid number of people tend to take it as the truth

I wouldn't mind Fox News having a right-leaning bias if they didn't just outright lie all the damn time... and be so BAD at it.
After all, it takes both halves to make a whole nation.

I don´t really see the harm. I´m a norwegian and I can´t stand the bastards, but the only people who will watch the channel are the people who vote for them anyway.

Besides: Norway has very clear and strict rules regarding politics and media. One example is that political advertising in the media is ILLEGAL (Try wrapping your head around that one America), so a channel as obviously biased as FOX News would have to tread very carefully not to cross the line.

EDIT: Political advertising is only illegal on television. One of the reasons is that the use of the TV-ad format will "flatten" and "dumb down" the political message. (The norwegian words are "forflate" and "fordumme". If anyone can provide a better translation, please do so)

God damn it, I don't want this. The news outlets in norway are unbiased, and I want it to stay like that.

It's written "Dagens Næringsliv". Just saying.

OT: That's downright stupid, but if they want that channel, go ahead. Might be funny.

Eugh...

There is a difference between political-bias, and outright lying. FOX News does the latter, frequently.

Having a right wing station? Good for Democracy. Having Fox? Good for riots.
Hehe. Agreed!

There´s right wing, there´s RIGHT wing, and then there´s FOX.

Now, are they unbiased, or do they just fit your own bias? I doubt you can really tell.

Oh escapist, you and your liberal bias.

I'm not saying Fox news is a great news source, but anyone that thinks the other options are any better is lying to themselves.

>implying ANY mainstream news outlet in the US is extremely left-wing.

OT: As a Norwegian, and (imo) a decent human being, I hate FRP with all my heart. Populist bastards. But go ahead, make that tv-channel. Noone is stopping anyone.
Yeah, this. There are two political parties I do not want to gain power here, and thats FRP and KRF (The Christian party). Why? Simple! They're batty-nuggets and, respectively, xenophobic and anti-science/PRO-JESUS!!!!!!!.

Now, I can agree that having a news outlet with a right-wing political stance wouldn't really hurt, and might even be good for the democracy...
Really? Because I can't. It's not because I'm left wing (I'm not) but what would be good for everybody, not just democracy, is a news outlet that has no left or right wing leanings, but is neutral and factual, and isn't as focused on making a profit via scare-mongering, sensationalising and just downright lying.
