...for comedy.

The OP is taking the piss, right?
The thread did originally have the more informative and serious title "Norwegian party, FRP calls for Norwegian version of Fox news" or something along those lines.
I figured I'd change it to something that'd get the thread a couple more views.

Norway is asking for Fox News?
That's like going to a brothel and asking specifically for the girl with herpes.

Yes because the world needs more bullshit. "News" programs out there fail to convey any sort of relevant information to the viewer opting instead to entertain those who choose to tune in. This is why whenever a scientists suspects there might be evidence of life on mars every single news outlet in the world will have a big headline saying "LIFE ON MARS FOUND!".

A month after mass murders by religious and nationalist motives, and they want a religious and nationalist TV-channel? One would think the reactionary nature of the sheep would actually lead to a counter-reaction and not a co-reaction. One can't even rely on the stupidity of people.
Uhm, sorry, but Breivik is not a right winger. He's a religious maniac and xenophobic.

Right wing politics in Europe are rooted in liberalism, just about the ideological mortal enemy of both religious fanatics and xenophobes, because everyone deserves a chance in liberalism.

Breivik's nationalist rhetoric fits far better under left wing conservatives. Most populist nationalistic or xenophobic parties in Europe are left wing stuff that are deeply opposed to liberalism, from the Front National in France, the Vlaams Blok in Belgium, arguably the PVV party in the Netherlands, the ÖVP in Austria, you name it. All left wing parties who place their goals above the individual, and strongly believe in a sense of community and togetherness-by-force that fits into the classical left wing views.

Sometimes they carry some right wing economic policies, but that doesn't change their ideology.
You clearly do not know Norwegian politics, and perhaps not even conservative politics at all. Breivik attacked the AP youth organization because of their liberal approach to immigration. To attribute his conservative radicalism to leftist manners seems very reactionary to me, a futile attack against the left. I know many leftists are idiots, but at least they are useful idiots and do not support entirely an idiotic direction which is backwards.

While I'm not a supporter of Fox News in ANY way, I can however acknowledge that the left has isn't own zealots...the problem is that even the zealots seems to be partially reasonable, unlike Fox who can't be swayed and believe that taxing poor people and cutting public programs is the way to "pave america to a golden future"...it makes me mad listening to them, and I'm from Canada.

John Stewart explained it very well when he was interviewed in Fox. No other news network has the same right-wing agenda that channel has. Some are trying to achieve a left-wing variant, but Fox is still in a category of its own. The problem with calling it "good for democracy" is that part of the idea of a news station that is not in any kind of government other than democracy is that it is free to say what it wants, but is appreciated best without any bias. It's unavoidable, but CNN and other networks, while obviously being left-wing, do not have the same agenda of trying to convince you through false facts and fallacies that their point of view is the correct one, and most of the time show both sides of the story. Read: objectivity.

I disdain Fox News with a passion. There's a difference between being right wing and just being poison. If it's true that Norway doesn't have a right wing newspaper then I believe that it's only fair they do indeed get one.

However, I find it just a bit fucking funny that the best place in the world doesn't even have a conservative newspaper. If I wanted to I could even use the fallicious argument that it's because a country has the right wing that they suck.

"They want the Right Wing to have a say in public forums? HANG THEM!!!" Is basically what I'm hearing in this thread. That and digs on how "stupid" we are.
