I hope the voice actors leave FOX. Because if anyone has ever had a decent job with decent pay, and then the boss suddenly says he'll take away half your pay check or you will be fired, they will know how ridiculous that is. People can say "Oh, but they get paid so much anyway." obviously either don't have a job, or don't understand what it's like to work for something, and then have it taken away. FOX could always stop paying Seth McFlarnae (Or however that's spelt) so much money so he can stop having all but one animated show on FOX......the fuck, Seth? The fuck!?

I REALLY hope the Simpsons isn't cancelled. Couldn't they just switch to Comedy Central if Fox wont have them?

Sure they'd still be making a lot of money even with a 45% cut.. But I wonder how Fox can really say it can't afford to keep their current pay when it makes that kind of money of syndication and merchandising.

Sounds like more of that corporate BS to me. How much does some assclown at the top get paid for doing a fraction of the work? Will he take a massive pay cut to help maintain their profit projections?

Probably not, since Fox probably owns the rights to The Simpsons.

Jesus H. Christ. Quit your bitching and take the paycut. Give that pay to a middle class citizen and they can probably squeeze many years worth of healthy living out of that. FFS.
Because Fox is going to take that extra money and donate it right? Or do something useful and get it put into the economy? Right.

They've been doing the show for 23 years, and it's pretty much reach an iconic status in america. They deserve the money they're getting. I'm not saying they'd be down in the dumps if they didn't get it all, but no one likes to take a pay cut of any sort.

Besides, Fox doesn't need the money, they're just trying to pad their pockets. Why spend a buck when you can keep it?

Ya know what? Maybe it is time for the Simpsons to take their final curtain call. The series has been going on for far too long. Maybe take the pay cut and do the 23rd season as a series finale.

Well, I guess they could always give the slot to a Seth MacFarlane comedy about a dysfunctional family with a fat, stupid dad, a long-suffering mom, two awkward kids, a talking animal... you know. Something original.

Why are there always people in these threads saying "der I'd work for half that!"

Yeah, but you don't get to. Because you're not talented. Or you weren't in the right situation. Or . You're not the fucking voice of Homer goddamn Simpson, so no one is interested in paying you anything for anything.

Also: "give some middle class guy $4m blah blah blah" - Fox makes untold fortunes off syndication rights for the Simpsons, easily eclipsing whatever they're forced to shell out for voice talent. If they want to cover losses incurred by other shows or departments at the expense of people who have actually made them a fucking mint, I say they can go screw - and I hope these voice actors tell them as much.

You can always ALWAYS rely on the giant corporation to be in the wrong. It's sort of how they function by design; if they aren't screwing the little guy, they aren't doing their job. You can see the proof of it when the "little guys" consistently offer up seemingly reasonable alternative terms and get completely shot down for no reason. Happened to unions in Wisconsin. Happens to Simpsons writers. It'll happen to you.

Surely Fox makes many hundred times more than $8 million per character of the Simpsons? Regardless, the pay cut, although 45%, is still leaving them with more money in one year than many make in their entire lives. I'm not really sympathising with any party here.

Formula:

Rich People + Rich People + Fighting over scrap change (for them) x I can't even get a scholarship to keep myself afloat?

= Earwax to me. Hold up while I clean that up and then find the means to care after I have disposed of it.

They be spoiled, yet looking from their perspective they earn 8 million and suddenly guys who are by default assholes tell you we're gonna half your paycheck. I'd be pretty mad.

On the other side, 8 million is too much for anyone to earn. Heck a tenth of that would be too much.

This happened a few years back. Who cares, they'll figure it out. Personally I've been tired of the Simpsons since they released their movie a few years back.

Umm socialist much? Don't be bitter because they earned that.
Actually no, a Socialist would say they should recieve a 99.99% pay cut because the value of their production is actually very limited... Also, they would be selling their goods to individuals who wanted to see it and even then it would be episode by episode and not entire seasons. Farmers and Tailors would make more than voice-over artists as the goods they produce are both vital and more plentiful than 22 a year. The artists who animated the work and the writers, they would recieve most of the money as they do most of the work. They would be better of working as actual actors in theatres as those have the perfect sales method for selling to individuals... lets face it, you cant go door to door asking if people want to see your Simpson.

OT: $8 million for 22 episodes is a lot... but we all know FOX is making much more than that from The Simpsons, if we are talking what they deserve then the cast would have to take a pay cut BUT FOX would have to give tons of money away. But if we are talking being fair, FOX can easily pay them... maybe they are being greedy BUT I dont think FOX is in any position to play that card.

on a deliciously ironic side note, FUTURAMA is finally getting back into its groove and no longer broadcast on fox.
