Who even watches this show anymore? The actors are earning loads per show and even with a wage cut they will still make millions per series. Simpsons is no longer the show it was, it pulls in less people and sells less merchandise. Why shouldn't there wages go down in relation to the money the show makes? Its just business. If i remember years ago the actors threatened to strike if they didn't get a payrise when the show was at its peak ratings. So they should expect a decrease in salary when the show drops in ratings.

Sorry but i really cant feel upset by multi millionaires moaning that they are no longer getting as many millions as they once did.

Please let this degenerate until they have no choice but to end the show. There would be literally no downside.
Hate to break it to ya buddy, but they signed the contract. They took the pay cut, and are still returning for another season.

Know their logic? After 23 years of making fuckloads of money, they decided instead of letting pride get in their way and being greedy, thay they'd continue to make a fuckload of money - just less of a fuckload. Under normal circumstances, I would say Fox would probably get sued for violating its contract. However, the cast of that show has made their money, and are just in the business for the fun of it.

They took a 30% pay cut, as apposed to the proposed 45%. What the Escapists sensationalist reporting "FORGOT" to mention to you was that the 45% was the absolutely bottom of the barrel, "we aren't even serious" kinda offer that was made just so the two parties could negotioate into the 20-30% range. Thats how business is done. When its all said and done, Fox also pays its employees that its contracted to...

Anyways, to you and everyone that has been trashtalking The Simpsons, have you been watching the new episodes? And I mean seriously, not in the context of the internet where you have to show how Alpha Male you are? Yeah, the 90's version was amazing - but it was different back then. Different team, different script writers (<3 Conan), etc. The recent two seasons have been pretty decent. Furthermore, a vast majority of people who rag on the Simpsons and say the new seasons suck, don't actually watch it. And to them I say fuck off - who are they to be loud and obnoxious over something other people like just because "Its been on for 23 years, it can't be funny". Yeah, I realize the show had a dark period. And if you abandoned it, then fine. But don't give your opinion on the matter unless your current and have seen a good chunk of the episodes - and not just the old ones. Otherwise, I'm chalking this one up to nestalgia.

End of Rant.

Aww, a Simpsons fanboy, how cute. I didn't think you guys were still around. Still, don't let your pet show being an irredeemable piece of shit stop you from taking every attack on it as a personal offence, more power to you.

The fact that you have a bunch of prepackaged strawman arguments and ad-hominems for anybody who dislikes it shows you give so much more of a shit than anybody insulting the Simpsons. It didn't even occur to me that pointing out that the Simpsons is crap was even a big enough deal to be considered "acting alpha male" any more.
If you didn't think it was alpha male to bash Simpsons then why are you responding to this post in such a manner? It can only be because you're using it as an ego trip, therefore doing exactly what he predicted someone would do.
So by responding to tell him he has a strawman argument, you've proved he doesn't have a strawman argument by showing everyone he's right. I find that amusing
Why did I respond to a rude post rudely?

You're right. It must be an ego thing.

well, the cast didnt invest money in the show and take risks. they just did a job and collected a salary. most voice actors in the world have sporadic work schedules and dont make that much money. making millions of dollars a year over the course of over a decade is ridiculously unprecedented for a voice actor. No one is going to force them to work for less than they want to work for. They have to option to say no and move on. Im sure they all have quite a nest egg to retire in their 30's or 40's. boo-fucking-hoo for them.

if you want to feel bad for someone, feel bad for all the people with families who are getting laid off and are now unable to make ends meet.

It's odd they want to make them take a pay cut, stating it's too expensive to continue making the show as it, but will deny them taking an even larger pay cut and sharing in profits. This of course tells us that their profits are large enough that can currently pay them while maintaining profits.

As I said I expect that if the voice cast won't accept they'll simply replace them with a new one voice cast changes are hardly abnormal in animated television and assuming fox does a decent job most viewers probably won't know the difference never mind the possibility of a reboot or spin off. I doubt we've seen the last of the Simpsons by a long shot.

I understand that most people believe the show is past it's prime, but the article doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the show. It's about Fox's unfair treatment towards the cast.

Considering the amount of merchandising Simpsons still does and all of the profits here and there, the profit sharing probably ended up with them making more than the 45% pay cut Fox wanted. I personally watch family guy more for the stupid, mindlessness of it. If I want something smart, I'll watch something different than both Simpsons or the Seth Brigade. I haven't actively watched Simpsons in over ten years, finding it getting more and more boring as time went on.

I was personally hoping the movie would finally end it, but they are getting worse than George Lucas with beating a dead horse. I will be sad when it ends, but it's been rotting on the shelf for a lot longer than it should have.

I can't be sympathetic with either side though. Fox is of course Fox, and now that the economy is taking a downturn, they are wanting to keep up shareholders profits as much as they can(It's a business and they are required to make sure those shareholders pockets are stuffed full unless they want them to leave), but they are hacking off almost half of a salary to do so. And it's Fox, while it might be popular to bash them, they do sort of have it coming.

The actors on the other hand, while they do bring the charm, are as a whole grossly overpaid for what they do. All they are are entertainers, nothing more. I mean really 8 million a year. Even at 4.4 million a year, that is insane. That is more than most people, even in great jobs, will ever make a year. They do a great job at what they do, but they shouldn't make so freaking much money.

Fox news are assholes anyway.

Like them or not, The Simpsons are a cultural symbol for North America. Thanks a lot Fox.

I avoid Fox for a reason. Luckily, I stopped watching The Simpsons years ago. I just lost interest. But Fox being jerks isn't big news to me. It's just business as usual for Fox.

If the network is really this ruthless towards those who make it tons of money, can you imagine how awful it's been to folks like Joss Whedon?
Good. After ruining the Alien franchise, that man deserves every shit hand he's dealt.

Um... you are aware of the fact that Whedon was hired by Fox to write that script and basically had to bow to their demands, right? That movie was dreadful, even Whedon admitted that.

Because other people made a movie he had no control over with a bastardized version of a script he wrote?
