I call bullshit. Seriously can Fox News fuck off of video games? I'm sure kids (and know so) learn much worse things at school these days because they all have the internet. And their parents have no clue how to use a bloody internet restrictor thingy.

Wow. Simply wow.
"'The increase in rapes can be attributed in large part to the playing out of [sexual] scenes in video games.'"
Unfounded argument.
"She says 9-year-olds are playing games like Bulletstorm and that there is no real enforcement."
No real enforcement, eh? So these kids don't have parents?
"And with kids as young as 9 playing such games..."
What is with the fixation on the age of 9 here? Sure, some kids that age will probably find a way to play Bulletstorm, but it's not like that's the target demographic. Hell, kids that young will almost certainly not even understand any of the jokes.

God, this is such blatant flamer-fuel. You wanna know what's wrong with America these days? Point your finger at post #1. (The content, that is, not the poster.)

I stopped reading there.
You made it further than me anyway.

"And with kids as young as 9 playing such games, the experts FoxNews.com spoke with were nearly universally worried that video game violence may be reaching a fever pitch."

That was as much as I could stomach.

Same here.
I'm so glad I live in the UK. Videogames and their 'relations' to crime and mental health tend to make small-time documentaries and maybe a 15 minute block on the national news. Even then it's in the vein of: 'are videogames making our kids stupid?' and not 'videogames are turning our children into rapists'.

I'm surprised something as wonderfully unrealistic as bulletstorm can raise any controversy.

I can tell you that's BS about game stores not enforcing an age limit thing. Almost every game store here where I live refuses to sell to minors because of moral reasons, or because they feel it would be bad publicity. You have to have a parent buy the game for you, so obviously the parents are letting their kids play this game.

Personally I think I'd play bulletstorm as a stress reliever :)

Sometimes I wonder if this isn't some kind of stealth maketing.
That crossed my mind. After all, no such thing as bad publicity.

I had to laugh about most of that article, but the line about the increase in rapes being a direct result of violent games made me a bit mad for a moment.

Meh, we are at a point where if parents choose to they can set parental guidelines on their child's console. If they do not choose to use it, then it is there fault. If they don't know about it then it is still there fault for not researching the thing which is "corrupting" their children. Game retailers tend not to sell to minors anyway and honestly, when had it became bad for a parent to just take the game away? If they hadn't noticed the game until the media talked about it, well they obviously aren't paying enough attention to their child.

Y'know, we should make a fox news drinking game. Take a swig every time you facepalm @ humanity or be forced to redefine arrogant stupidity.

Problem is, I really don't have the money for all that alchohol.

Have they really not noticed that every time they go after a game its sales go through the roof?

I red about half way through before I picked up my gun and started shooting at a local developer. Then my brain melted out my ear and I flew to space

Oh Fox news, when will you get any smarter?
