FPS Crossbows?

I recently considered getting Oddworld: Stranger's Wraith mainly because there is a crossbow used during the entire game, but I was wondering if there is another FPS crossbow game out there worth playing multiple times that I should consider getting instead?

Well, I know there's a crossbow in Half-Life 2, but it's not the main weapon.

They should be in more, though. I mean, arrows can punch through Kevlar, it'd be a good tool.

Well, I'm playing Deus Ex, and that has a crossbow in it. It's not the only weapon, but you can get it very early on, and it's very good.

Farcry 2 added a crossbow in the DLC, I think the bolts explode too, and you could probably go the entire game using it, although you would run out of ammo frequently.

Unreal Tournament (the first one) also has a crossbow, and a pretty awesome one too! I'm not sure about the newer ones, though...

this is more of a mod for half life 2, but pirates vikings and knights has a cross bow if u play as the knight archer. but i warn u the community i simliar to 4chan (maybe thats a bit too far but u get the idea, at the same time the said community can be flipping hilarious too.

There are Crossbows in Timesplitters and 007 Nightfire but these aren't examples of when it is the featured weapon of the game.

Lots of games had a crossbow. Half-Life, Army of Darkness (the Doom mod), Half-Life 2, Deus Ex, Timesplitters...

Crossbows are one of the weapons you can use in Mount & Blade, and you can also play it in a first person view.

However, it's not really a First Person Shooter as it's really melee weapon and horseback combat orientated, with a lot of emphasis on tactics and controlling your troops.

You could play it as a FPS game and focus on using Crossbows to snipe people, but since it's realistic, you'll find the Crossbow's slow rate of fire a disadvantage when enemies get close to you... but if you control your troops well you can spend an entire battle safely behind the lines, sniping enemies while your troops do most of the fighting.

Bioshock has a Crossbow like weapon. Sure, it uses clips, but it is shaped and works like a Crossbow.

With weapon_crossbow and item_ammo_crossbow it can easily become the main weapon for the entire game.

If you can wait a few months, Call Of Duty: Black Ops will have a crossbow in it. With exploding bolts, no less.

Strife, an old Doom Engine based game uses a crossbow and electric bolts as your second weapon.

But my favorite is Painkiller's Stake Gun. Sure, it's not a true crossbow with a string, but pinning dudes to a wall with huge wooden bolts is awesome.

Heh. As soon as I saw this thread, I was ready to jump in and shout STRANGER'S WRATH.

Regardless of whether or not you like crossbows in your games, Stranger's Wrath is a damn good FPS and one of the most underated games on the last generation of consoles.

The only problem with Stranger's Wrath is the in-game speech. The music and the sound effects are great, but for some reason the speech has terrible sound quality. There's no problem with it during cutscenes, it's just as you play the game you'll notice how bad the characters sound.

My one word of advice is to turn the subtitles on. I was about to give you some gameplay tips but I don't think anyone should be told how to play a stealth/action game.

So it was. I don't know. It just doesn't fell like a crossbow to me....although I do love the one shot kills against splicers who aren't paying attention. >_>
