FPS weapon set?

Now, for this thread, please discount games like BioShock and RE4 which lets you tote every weapon in the game around with you in your pocket. I'm talking about Halo and CoD, where you can only carry two guns at a time. Getting to the point...

What weapons do you prefer?

When I play CoD 4, I always keep my pistol. I have an awful habit of getting all shot up right after emptying a clip, so I have to go prone and reload, and while I'm reloading some Russian always runs in the room and blows my head out before I can finish reloading. So I always stick with my pistol so I can quickly pull it out if this scenario ever happens.

So, what about the rest of you, Escapist?

I always have a meduim/long range like a sniper or G36C and a pistol.

Never can get rid of a pistol. Just seems cooler to go down shooting a pistol at someone then it does a SMG or a LMG.

I usually have the sub machine gun, just for the extra speed of the gun, with the pistol/shotgun or special story needed weapon in tow.

-Pistol and Sniper rifle
-Pistol and Assault Rifle
-SMG and Sniper Rifle
-Shotgun and assault rifle

I take what I can find and try to use it to its fullest advantage for a given combat scenario.
So in CoD WaW, I usually take the DP-28 support machine gun and anything ranging from the PssH to a shotgun

I prefer a sniper rifle and something medium range... like an smg of some sort. close quarters don't really matter because then I have nades and the smg can work there too.

In COD I keep the main rifle I'm given (M-4, G36 etc.) and ditch my pistol for another SMG or rifle, usually an AK. If I go empty with the first rifle while in a fire fight I switch to the AK to finish things off.

Smgs and assault rifles. occasionally a sniper rifle but i stay clear of light machine guns.

I usually have a medium/long range and a shotgun.

Works well in almost any situation. Too bad I suck.

For CoD4: Long range semi-automatic rifle as primary (M14 with reflex scope is a personal favourite), silenced M1911 as secondary.

Farcry 2, pretty much the same: The burst-fire assault rifle (I forget its name), which allows precise medium-long range sniping or close range spray'n'pray; and the silenced pistol.

Tankhunter- Thompson w/ aperture sight SMG magnum rocket launcher fireworks and reconnaissance

i cant remember cause i change them so often but i know i always have my BOOOOOOOOOM HEADSHOOOT!

and for halo 3 which i hardly play i try and equip with plasma pistol rocket launcher plasma grenades and the power drain i like torturing any one who uses vehicles but really all you need is plasma grenades the plasma pistol helps with those pesky air vehicles and rocket laucher is well for killing vehicles in general

For COD, I typically use the AK47 with bandolier, stopping power and deep impact. And I'll pick up an MP5 along the way.

I usually go acog'd M21 for mobile sniping with either a silenced M9 or golden deagle. With that I use UAV jammer, claymores, and umm...whats that other one....hmmm....dead silence I think. I don't play cod4 anymore though really

I like Overkill Assault rifle/Shotgun setup with Extreme Conditioning. Glad they are not making MW2 shotguns a primary weapon.

Assault rifle with a scope because it is a nice replacement for a sniper but it can handle medium range too. Then I also carry an SMG, for when I go through tight corridors, corners and generally close-range situations. This is my Rainbow Six loadout, but in games where you can only have one big gun and a pistol, I take an assault rifle and a pistol.
