Just tried 'Fran Bow' right now. Two ways of calling this one. Either another sleeper cult hit that blends Lewis Carroll and HP Lovercraft. Or I could be a touch blunter and call it 'F_____d up'.

I rather liked it myself. Definitely feels like they were trying to blend Silent Hill and Alice in Wonderland. Quite creepy, though some of the puzzles are a bit dense.

I particularly like the fact it's extremely up to interpretation as to whether Fran has the ability to see/travel to other dimensions, is totally batshit crazy or both.

Ooh, I have a copy of that I haven't played yet. You pretty much just caught my attention.

At the same time, if you're after "fucked up", you might want to also check out Neverending Nightmares.

I think that's on my wishlist... or maybe that's The Cat Lady. Hmm.. I'll check it out. Sounds interesting.

I bought it on the off chance in the GOG sale and I quite like it. I have not finished it yet just got off the island with the toad. Its not absolutely amazing (at least not yet) but I really like its art and themes and the story and characters. Some of the puzzles are annoying though. Its not as bad as some old point and clicks (far from it) but I have been unable to solve puzzles simply because I did not find the item needed sue to clicking all around the damn thing and not on it but I just used a guide on the rare occasions I got stuck like that.

I liked American Mcgees Alice especially Madness returns and this gives a similar vibe only I think it does it better and makes it more its own thing which I love

Based on the title alone I was expecting a gender swapped Sylvester Stallone to be rampaging through a jungle yelling about pushing.
I was pleasantly surprised by the disturbing puzzle/adventure game that we got.
Then a tiny bit disappointed if I'm honest because somewhere along the line I found myself wanting a jungle rampage.

I actually played this one around the time I played Fran Bow.

I loved Fran Bow, but was thoroughly disappointed by Neverending Nightmares. Nightmares just didn't have either the narrative or gameplay hooks that I was looking for.

Funny you should say that because Fran Bow and the Cat Lady hit a lot of the same surreal silent-hill type horror notes, despite having different styles and plots. Though Fran Bow is more "Really, Really messed up Lewis Carol" while the Cat lady is "A study on Depression meets the Horror of Saw".

Yeah I think that's why I blended the two in my head a bit. both have an alternative art style with female leads and psychological horror. Not my typical purchase but definitely something I'm interested in.

Best elevator pitch ever. Thanks!
