Okay, I recently played the first chapters of Walking Dead and A Wolf Among Us, and I had an absolute blast.

Now, seeing all the IP Telltale Games has amazed me and made me wonder;

What other franchises would make great Telltale games?

I personally would like to see a South Park episodic adventure game, it would be pretty easy to integrate the show's art style into that kind of game, especially if you consider how well Stick of Truth turned out using it, and the show's unpredictable nature can make certain choices you make all the more interesting as you'd sometimes have no idea what the results of you choices will be.

But enough about me, what IP would you like to see as a Telltale game?

I think The Elder Scrolls series and Fallout series would be amazing as Telltale games. The games have deep lore and if you threw in an awesome story and characters, you'd have one hell of a game.

Wouldn't mind seeing them come up with their own IP once, but that's not really their style.
So I'll go with something silly and meaningless that they can in no way shoehorn in a mawkish and overly-dramatic/grimdark plot.

So...Angry Birds. Or Cookie Clicker.

Most franchises would work.
But I would like to see something less dark for a change. Maybe more comics adaptions. Hellboy, Saga, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Maybe even something old but familiar to most gamers, such as Peanuts. Too bad that bigger franchises are out of question, since some of the DC and Marvel series would work well. For instance, imagine what Telltale could do with Guardians of the Galaxy, or Batman...

...or how about My Little Pony. What? Come on, don't give those looks. I'm not a brony, I just think it'd work well as an episodic series and it'd be profitable.

Well people thought Game of Thrones was a great idea but their take on Game of Thrones is kind of shit, on the other hand people thought Borderlands was a bad idea but all 4 episodes released so far have been fantastic, the writing is top notch, the characters are likeable and while it's mostly comedy it does have some pretty damn good dramatic moments along with interesting choices so....

Hell if I know, anything I guess, I would love to see a Saga game though, specially considering that Vincent K. Vaughan likes the idea of a telltale Saga game, so you know that could theoretically work but I don't know what about considering how massive the Saga universe appears, could be about bounty hunters or the war or acting or whatever really.

They are doing some original IPs, they call them supershows, Lionsgate is producing one and there's another one of which absolutely no details at all have been released other than it will come out before the Lionsgate thing, so who the hell knows what's going on.

Serious answer? Ratchet & Clank.

Non-serious but also kind of secretly think it would be way better? Dark Souls.

Oh, anything could work. Literally anything.

Drinky Crow.
Invader Zim.
Adventure Time.
Team Fortress 2.
CLUE/Cluedo, base it on the movie, TV series, or 90s book series.
Harry Potter/Divergent/Hunger Games/Lord of the Rings.
Pride & Prejudice & Zombies.
King's Quest.
Maplestory.
Bubsy Bobcat.
Pokemon.
Stephen King novels.

Anything.

I really think just about anything would work, for example...

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time - instead of playing the hero or an important character you play as a group of survivors of Castle Market during Link's 7 year absence as Ganondorf is taking over Hyrule. You essentially are always on the run going through different areas and hiding out from Ganondorf's forces and unlike the people that just fled to Kakariko your goal is to make it out of Hyrule with as many of the original survivors as possible

Super Mario Bros... sorta - you play as a Toad that wants to open a shop and follow his adventure as he looks for business partners through out the Mushroom Kingdom and other territories from the Mario franchise (Delfino Island, Yoshi's Island, etc.)

I mean I could go on and on with all the different IP's they could tackle,,, most of them Nintendo owned :p if I was given the chance to actually choose one though it would be Metroid, that would be a great way to expand that universe and explore it's backstory/lore

This topic came up a few months ago and someone in that thread suggested Archer. That's a series that I think has a massive amount of potential for a TT game. The facts that most of the characters are jerks of some kind and the show doesn't take itself too seriously would give them a lot to work with.

I just want them to hurry up and do another Grickle game. They still haven't topped Puzzle Agent, in my hubristic opinion.

I am really hoping for a tell tale game based on the Dune universe. It doesn't have to be about the Atreides or the Harkonenn (though I would like that very much), it could be about a minor house, the rise of the Corrino's as the imperial house. Perhaps about the struggle of the fremen, or how did they get there.

Deus Ex human revolution. It's a little disappointing how the game likes to bring up topics related to human augmentation, but then doesn't do much with them because well it's an action game. A adventure game would be able to play with the concepts better.

I'm not all that big a fan of Telltale, I find their engine buggy and their writing is "meh" more often than great.

BUT

I do think that Star Trek and Warcraft have enough world they haven't touched yet.

As others have pointed out, just about anything can hypothetically be turned into a Telltale game.

That said, focusing on franchises where relationships and puzzle-centric game play is at the forefront and action/gee-whiz effects are not, and aiming for maximum popularity, I'd say your best bets would be...

1) Something set in the Potter universe, most probably at Hogwarts. A new student having their own crazy adventure, with their own best friends.
2) Something set in the Warcraft Universe. Blizzard wanted to do their own adventure game there, before deciding it landed too far outside their bailiwick. They might be tempted to let someone else have a go.
3) Some kind of crime/police serial, possibly tied into any one of a number of popular television shows. Those tend to have huge audiences, and the medium suits it well.

PS - I thought the Game of Thrones one was reasonably well received? Did it start falling apart in later chapters? I've not played it yet, I'd planned to get it when the price dropped low/it was complete. Without spoilers, can anyone tell me what the problems are?

I've been absolutely loving Tales From the Borderlands so far... so I think I'd want to give them another shot at something action/comedy. As much as I absolutely loved The Walking Dead, I felt like season 2 was a little bit of a disappointment. In the first season I got attached to the characters, because the game was new to me and I didn't know where it was going to go. In the second season I never really got attached to any of the supporting cast, because I had a feeling most of them wouldn't be around in the end regardless of my actions. It took away a lot of the game's emotional impact for that season. So yeah... I think they're doing better with action/comedy at the moment. It's a bit less predictable. So maybe something like...

The Venture Bros.
Archer
Fallout

Off the top of my head I can think of a couple of examples, and for some reason all of them are about sci-fi TV series.

1. Heroes: The series is rather perfect for a Telltale Games adaptation. In theory it's a character and arc-driven story about people discovering that they have superpowers, in practice you can debate how the show turned out but it could easily be made into something like The Walking Dead games. Maybe set it in the 70s and show how the Company was set up or between the original series and the upcoming Heroes Reborn to show what happened to the characters that won't appear in the new series. Plus being a video game means that it can go where the series couldn't either because of budget or network TV restrictions on content.

2. Fringe: One of my all-time favorites. It's a great sci-fi mystery show that is basically the X-Files of the late-00s and early new 10s, one key difference being that unlike the X-Files it ended before it could begin to suck. It had great characters, solid drama, amazing universe and concepts to play around with. I definitely believe that its police procedural mystery elements would translate perfectly into an adventure game format. It could be a great opportunity to answer the one or two remaining unanswered questions that the series just couldn't find the time to answer.

3. Doctor Who: Why hasn't Telltale done this already?! Make this game and it will sell ten times as many copies as the Walking Dead Season 1 did.

4. Sliders: A mostly forgotten and criminally under-appreciated 90s sci-fi series about parallel universes (look it up on Netflix if you haven't seen it, and you should, at least the first two seasons). Every episode could take place in a different universe as universe-of-the-week type episodes with an overarching storyline to tie them all together.
