It was going to be the Final Fantasy.

The first one single-handedly saved Square from bankruptcy.

Unless a game has received a major over-haul, pretty much any series past #3. Such as Call Of Duty got a reprieve with Modern Warfare, but unless they can figure out a new wrinkle it's time to stop. And five games of battling the Covenant it's time for Halo to evolve or retire.

Mind you, that canbe extended slightly by non-numbered glorified expansion packs like Ass Creed Brotherhood. But I really can't see them dragging out the future story another installment.

But I think some franchises can simply be transfered to a new story arc. With Fable 3 entering the Industrial Age I don't think they can really keep that story going, but I would love to see them go backwards in time and weave a new tale with the same basic game play because I think there's a lot of growth potential there.

Or just fire Sonic Team.

The only thing they did right is the Phantasy Star Portable games. And those are co-developed.
no, just remind them who they really are =P

None. I don't have to play them if I don't want to, so why should I kill them for others to suffer?

The Final Fantasy franchise. I honestly have no idea how it's been so popular up until now. Non-sensical story, 2d characters, awful dialogue/voiceovers and a complete lack of GAMEPLAY... I mean, even BAD gameplay is something, at least I'm playing a game and not watching a painfully shit film.

I'm gonna have to go with Metal Gear Solid.

Hideo Kojima should just shut the fuck up.
True dat. Kojima is another japanese game maker that never learned the lesson that often less is more. Complex storyline isn't a one-way-ticket to GOOD storyline...

Call of Duty. Working at the midnight launch requires a gas mask for all of the BO and Douche.

To be honest I'd like to see GTA die. No matter what happens that game is just horrific.

In most cases, my wish is for a franchise I enjoy to go out on a high note instead of dragging the story long past the point I care. I eagerly await Uncharted 3 but how many times can it go to the same well before it becomes a joke. How many time periods can Assassin's Creed visit with near identical game play and a future story dragging it's feet? Isn't it about time the Half-Life saga ended so we can get some sort of answers to the questions they raise. How many more times can they add just a little bit to Saints Row before it turns into a joke? Does Grand Theft Auto keep recycling the same three cities or does it take a proper chance?

But Halo I'm just tired ofhearing about.

And Mario has probably earned the right to just keep on going.

Sonic, so then after he's been "purified", I can bring it back from the ashes.

Also I want to see an end to Armored Core and/or Front Mission, they use generic looking mechs and just go mission to mission instead of an actual story.

CoD, and Mario. Mario because for fuck sakes, his time has come. And CoD because I can't stand being nagged constantly to buy it and play it, to the point of getting threatened by my own friends.

Halo... Which is mostly dead. I just want to keep it that way.
Modern Warfare. Or at least any CoD made by Infinity Ward or whatever they call themselves now. I still like Treyach's games though.

Mario, I guess.
I mean I've got nothing against my fellow italians, but it seems like it'd be a mercy killing.

Or maybe, to that end, I should just kill Peach.
Then he could elope with Daisy to a beach where the sunshine doesn't try to kill you.

But Sonic Colors for the Wii actually wasn't that bad.
If they had just tried to use some sort of plot line that made sense, the mechanics were there.
If anything, I'd let Sonic Team die slowly for a few years to see if they can actually gain back all the progress they lost with the switch to 3-D games.

God of War: I don't see what could possibly happen from now on
Halo: Since Bungie's departure, I don't personally see what more Halo can give from Micro
MGS: It's done, anything else would be silly, I said it was done before but the new one on PSP proved me wrong, but now, seriously, its done.
Tekken: I can't say I'm all that excited by new Tekken games nowadays, its just add 5 more characters a few more levels and modes, done! Release Tekken 7.
Sonic: Except for the portable version, the console versions make me cry.
Pokemon: How much more can they possibly make?
Gears of War: After 3, I think it should just end, it was cool while it lasted, but its starting to wear thin on me now :(
CoD: I'm not entirely sure where it could possibly go from there, I heard about a version set in the distant future with marines...not so sure I like that idea, Halo's already done that.

Ah. And Square, being a company, saw the gold mine they had created and started digging. Bastards.

I was going to call fanboyism... but then I inspected closer and figured that you're right. I considered that COD has covered everything doable, and that's the only reason I want a (temporary) end to the series, barring sequels to existing games (Frank Woods rescue mission?).

Halo, however, you missed the mark on a bit. Apparently 343 Studios is handling it, and that is filled with Bungie staffers. Nothing to worry about there.

OP: I want to see an end to:

Final Fantasy (there can only be so many FINAL fantasies, can there? You know, like one? Also, the series is just stale by now),

Metal Gear Solid (good while it lasted, but I greatly disliked 4. Just leave those millions of subplots and plot holes and plot fiascos and plot adulteries alone),

Guitar Hero (It's dead. It's been dead since Guitar Hero 2. Just move on.),

Bioshock (After Infinite, which I can't wait for. Best franchise of all time shouldn't get the oppurtunity to become stale)
