So the WBC serpent's head is withering in hospital.

How do you all feel about this? I know American's are all about free speech and the whole "while I might not agree with your opinion, I defend your right to say it" (or something) but on the other hand "what a dick!".

I mean picketing funerals with stuff along the lines of "it's a good thing he is dead".

I know I will be celebrating, while under no delusion that the WBC will carry on as strong as ever when he does die.

Meh, the WBC are just trolls, they don't deserve the attention they get. I will laugh evilly though if his funeral gets protested, a taste of their own medicine ;-)

He'll be too dead to care, though.

I'm hoping that with him gone, the remainders lose their driving force and simmer down.

His family and congregation won't be, though. Not that I would normally wish that on someone but you live by the sword, die by sword, live by protesting funerals, eh... die and get your funeral protested.

See, I think it might. The WBC is less than a hundred strong (it's basically this guy and his family) and the younger groups are jumping ship because they realize that the WBC is filled with nutter butters.

Losing the head is likely enough to kill this snake (fingers crossed!). I'm not going to celebrate his death since that's waaaaay more attention than this asshole deserves. I will nothing his death for that is everything he deserves.

If this guy gets into Heaven, I will request that I get sent to Hell for a God that gives this guy a key to Heaven is not a God I wish to be associated with.

Can't say many people will miss him to be honest. There'll be that lot that nobody likes, of course, but for anybody sane and reasonable this isn't horrible news.

I wonder what his final thoughts will be. As he approaches the end, will he die happy, believing that all the harm and hatred he spread is exactly what God wanted, or is he begging for a second chance as he finally has to accept that he was wrong and God's not going to approve of his legacy? Either way, he'll soon be meeting The Man Himself if this is true, and I think he's going to be in for a nasty shock.

I heard about this earlier today, and I can't be bothered to give a shit.

Why should I mourn or care about a crazy, hateful, old man?

The WBC might die off after he's gone though since he was the head of that whole bag of crazy, and I'm hoping that's the cast because that is one group I don't understand at all.

Part of me wants to be spiteful. I want to hope that it is as painful as possible for him, that his funeral is protested, that his family falls the fuck apart.

But I know damn well they're too far gone to give up on their shit just because their leader died. They're appoint some new leader, perhaps that hateful old hag that keeps singing at their events, and they'll continue being a waste of oxygen.

...Is... is it wrong that I'm glad he's almost dead? I know I shouldn't be... but to be honest... I really don't care. At all. I think the world would be better off without him.

I'm Atheist...but I will curb my tongue on the day of his funeral, unlike his ilk, I will show respect to a fellow human being, my suggestion is for you to do the same, be the bigger man (or woman)

Thats my thoughts

According to Phelps's estranged son, Fred was excommunicated from the 'church' in August 2013.

No-one seems to know why just yet, but that's some interesting stuff. Considering how they treat family who leave the 'church' he may well be having a lonely death in hospital.

I'm going to play some music to remember this occasion.

I realize this might be in poor taste, but then this is someone who has spread nothing but hatred, animosity and ignorance.

NOOOOO! No, I say! He cannot die yet! I had a plan, goddammit! I was going to wait until the bastards planned to picket near my area, then I was going to go to my friendly neighborhood sex shop and order a glorious, custom-made, neon-colored, glittering, floppy, baseball-bat-sized, anatomically-correct horse dildo, and then I was going to go to their protest, and then, Equus the Just raised to the sky, I would charge their picket line, bowl over the brainwashed children forward guard, run right up to that smug old fuck, and slap him right in the face with a neon horse cock argh why God why are you so cruel.

Ahem.

Yeah, he's a bad person. Can't say I'm happy over the death of another human being, but fucked if I'm going to be torn up either.

There are very few people in the world that I would say the world is better with them gone. He's on that list, that oh so ever short list.

I will say this though, other then people making comments (much like mine I'm sure) I personally would prefer that there be no fanfare over this. No Ironic protesting, no celebrating, nothing of that sort. The sheer indecency shown by that group was shocking, however people remaining silent over this man's passing leaves a much louder impact. For all the fear mongering answering with complete silence would be a far more memorable a far more lasting statement.

Truly there aren't many ways to leave a stronger message than simply ignoring the whole thing.

I want to picket his funeral with signs that say "thank god for hell," just to give them the taste of the bile they've been spreading for years.

Well I'm not morbid enough to derive pleasure from someone's demise, but I would say this is perhaps a good thing overall, but one that won't have any real consequence. The WBC will go on, and isn't it rather common knowledge that his daughter is far, far worse than he ever was anyway?
