Microsoft Security Essentials.
Lightweight, surprisingly good, and doesn't interfere with everything like the other free ones do.

If Microsoft claims it isn't for your region, just download from one of the other links and let it update itself.

I havent had any computer problems since I downloaded AVG really. Although that's not to say I had many beforehand since i'm pretty careful about the sites i visit.

I really wouldn't trust anti-virus programs that were free. I have heard good things baout 'avast!' though...

I mostly just rely on Ubuntu and paying attention to what I do online

Malwarebytes is the shit. It saved me many times when other programs just ran away with the tail between their legs.

What I use(d):

NOD32:
Lightweight, quick and easy. Updates fast and Smart Security works like a charm.

AVG:
I've been infected using AVG, but it got most of it off.

Avast!:
Very good antivirus, home edition is quite good and is usually very quiet.

Avira:
Currently using, haven't been attacked. Great stuff.

Malwarebytes:
A bit slow but VERY good detection capabilities.

Firefox or Google Chrome, and go to pornsites with protection (lol).
Also, download the WoT addon for Firefox. Its like linkscanner or Site Advisor.

I use this combination :

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) - Real-time scanning.
Malware Bytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) - On-demand scanning.
SUPERAnti-Spyware - On-demand scanning.

Using this combo, I've not had a virus in a five years (and I download a lot!). (I only just recently switched from Avast! to MSE a month or three ago).

yeah so my sister used my computer and now it has a ton of trojans and shit on it.

Any free anti virus program i can use to delete them?
AH I think I can translate this:

"Yeah so my sister" = "Yeah so I/my friends"
"Used my computer" = "looked up massive amounts of porn from suspicious websites"
"and now it has a ton of trojans and shit on it" = "OH GOD, THERE IS POP UP PORN EVERYWHERE! MAKE IT STOP!"

ehehe. sorry.

I use AVGfree. Its cool.

I use Bullguard. It comes with a free three month trial but after that you have to pay for it.

I'm surprised it didn't spazz out or anything. Usually you shouldn't mix/match Different Protection Softwares.

download Avast! Free Home Edition.

When its installed, let it scan your computer on restart.

it takes a while, and you have to watch it. but it works good.
I agree, Avast is probably the best anti-virus program I've ever used and it's free.

I have AVG free, seems to be ok.
What's nice is it doesn't ask you to upgrade to the one you pay for every 10 seconds.
