For old timer PC RTS junkies who love wonderfully horrific live action acting, it looks like EA is giving away three of the old Command and Conquor games.

They are a bit aged, but you cannot beat free right?

Edit: There have been reports from some other posters that they are having issues getting this to work with Vista. They are lengthy downloads, so Vista users be forwarned.

Cool. Just wish I liked RTS games. But base building and resource gathering is so boring. And so are tech trees...

Oh man, I loved Red Alert on the PS1.

Now I can play it again! AHAHAHAHAHA!

But this 2 hour download time worries me...

Edit: WTF? 5 hours now?!

I dislike CnC's approach to RTS. It was never one of those games that you could take slowly, you had to constantly be doing something or you fall behind and 2 minutes later rushed by hundreds of everything. Then again I am just kinda bad at it..

Edit: Forgot to say thanks for the links and info. I have something to do for a while.

Thats awesome. I played Red Alert instead, should be fun to play the game that set the bar for RTS back then.

To all those wanting C&C games: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Command-Conquer-First-Decade-DVD/dp/B000E543LI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1266248727&sr=8-2

See if you can find that, it's available in some GAME stores in the UK, that's where I got mine. It's in 2 for £15, or £9.99 on it's own (though amazon's price ain't exactly bad either!)

one warning: The original C&C has not been updated to run on modern systems, and some of the other early ones may be the same. That said, I managed to get C&C1 to run on my win7 laptop, albeit the FMV didn't work, but gameplay was fine.

Have you played Starcraft? I can assure you that it beats the living crap out of C&C as far as the progress stress goes!

OT: Thanks a lot for sharing these awesome news, I actually prefer playing the older C&C games, so finding this was golden.
