I'll get around to looking at all of these suggestions at some point.

Except for ones where I eventually have to pay a subscription and Runescape. I played MapleStory a long, long time ago and I got very bored very quickly.

Allods Online. Closed beta but you can google a key in seconds. Its stable, has nice graphics and effects, some pretty atmospheric music even, relatively nice quests, lots of classes, a sort of fantasy vs soviets/steampunk setting, and PvP with astral ships. Combat is a bit weird though, as well as huge stat importance, but maybe they'll fix that, and its still miles ahead of any F2P MMO ive played, including Runes of Magic. Beware that before open beta there will be a wipe of characters.

They shouldn't be free, otherwise the company get's uninspired to make more content, thus it's broken.
But most of them pull the surprise dippity doo fuck of having the 'Gold' membership which you have to pay for to get the good stuff, and I mean the good stuff, the free version is always intentionally shit.

MU Online is a pretty good free MMORPG, it reminds me a lot of Aion, only Aion is better.

Hardly a MMO. Unless you consider Diablo 2 a MMO too.
I'd still say MU is an MMO. It's online only, and you play in the same world as everyone else.
I think that there are servers. Lots of servers.

Lunia is pretty good and so is GunZ if you are into their sort of things but a warning for GunZ if you don't learn to do some fancy moves fast you will be destroyed
Knife stab then empty clip into victims face seemed to be the tactic of choice for many players on that game. Even then it was still fun till they added the special weapons and gear that you could buy with real money to give you a pretty unfair advantage.
Knife stab works till level 20. Then you have 3 choices:

a) try to develop some kind of limited d-style (dagger style)
b) practice for few hours s-styling or use macroes (sword style)
c) be really, really good with a katana, don't use bugs (essential in other styles) and shoot good. Korean Style.

It's only fun when you use either d-style or K-style. Otherwise, you spend so much time practicing using bugged animations, you begin to wonder if this is really how the rest of the game plays.

edit: Also, remind me, but I thought WoW doesn't have dual-classing. RoM has. How are they identical, again?

I mostly did did dual swords or dual guns but i got sick of the game at about level 20. This was back on the International version that didn't have much left to do after 20 and there wasn't much left to do except hope i could scrounge enough money to finally buy the endgame armor and guns to keep up with everyone else. Skill became a bit irrelevant when your attacks did almost nothing to their health and theirs were eating at your like it was nothing. It has been like 3 or 4 years since i've played so maybe they actually did some balancing since then.

To answer your question; There are no dual classes in wow. But they did add a dual-spec feature a few months ago to switch your characters spec on the fly.

Yes, I assume there are, like most MMO's. I'm just saying, you pick a server and play with hundreds, if not thousands of people in the same world (server), on Diablo you join a room with 8 other people, and you have the option to play offline.

If EVE Online or LOTR Online do unlimited free trials then I'd be interested. However, unless it's absolutely kickass (like FF XIV may well end up being) or is a Discworld or Firefly MMO, I refuse to pay subscription fees for a game. Which means I stay away from MMOs in general. So I don't know what free ones are out there aside from the constant advert banners on games websites. Sorry I can't be of any more help.

By the way, if EVE or Lord of the Rings Online actually do free trials for an unlimited time, then please let me know. Even if they do have less content than the full, subscription, versions...

Because it's a pointless gimmick that only serves to hide how boring the main classes are. If you copy a halo game and make maser chief wear a silly hat, you can argue that it's different all you want but in the end it's still a ripoff.

I tried rom and i think it's an affront to the sub genre of mmo's created by eq and wow.

loads of cool games out there, s4 league is good (a shooter)
Atlantica online is like Final Fantasy, which is always cool
you've got DDO (dungeons and dragons online)
Dragonica which is kinda fun
Gaia Online
Loads of games out there which are free to play, and you might only get a few months out of them before moving on, but it's a nice ride while they last =]

Could always try out the free "unlimited" trials a lot of the popular MMOs are doing now.
Unlimited free trials? How do you mean? The only free trials I'm used to are the ten day ones you can get.
Many let you play for as long as you want until you go past a certain level. Just look on their websites and they should have them advertised normally in big writing and flashy lights.

Il have a quick look now and see what i can find.

EDIT: Champions Online: http://www.champions-online.com/demo

Warhammer Online: http://www.warhammeronline.com/trial/index.php?WHFB9F-PNAIU-3XRWI-E6BRD-TRPTI

Dungeons & Dragons Online (tis all free): http://www.ddo.com/playnow/

Just have a look around and see, im sure you'll find something you like :)
Is Dungeons completely free? of only to a lvl?
