Other than Runescape, what are the best free mmorpgs? I guess that includes those with decent free trials. I'm looking for something similar to Runescape, just not it!

Never played Runescape, my little brother does.

Free to play stuff that I know of: D&D Online, LOTRO, and supposedly Champions Online soon?

Doesn't a new free MMORPG advertise here like every other week?
Anyway, LOTRO is free now so try that I guess.

Also APB : Reloaded is supposedly going to be released eventually for free2play. There's also Battlefield Heroes if you're really desperate.

LOTRO. I found out the other day that it was free reading an article on here so I downloaded it. 10gb is quite a bit but it was worth it, it is much better than Rune Scape.

Guild wars if you can get a good price on a account key :p. But I like Rose Online Flying For fun and Maple Story.

I know tens of these, from Requiem to Air Rivals - but I would recommend you pick up League of Legends [http://eu.leagueoflegends.com/] instead, it tends to appeal to MMO players, and it's the most rewarding genre for those willing to invest the time to get good at it that I know.

Enjoy.

Dofus is pretty good for a while. It's not free to go everywhere and it takes about 7 years to update, but it's pretty fun once you get going.

Looks like it's going to be LOTRO, but I might end up rejecting it, some of those look really good. Thanks :)

You could try Pirates of the Burning Sea, its an ex pay to play Sony game, its also pretty damn good and the ingame dosh to buy stuff is traded by players so if you play it enough, you'll never have to cough up real cash to buy a parrot or a massive hat.

ps don't call your PC any form of any name from Pirates of the Caribbean, about 99.999999999999999999999999% of players hate that, the rest used the name and get gang shafted in pvp areas (word to the wise)

Rappelz, Shaiya, LoTRO, Archlord, D&DO....

There are a lot of them around and you stand a very good chance of finding one you like

Runes of magic is quite good if you want to get into them but can't devote enough of your time to merit a subscription, there are oppertunities to pay for better things but i've not yet felt i've lost out by not buying stuff.

If you don't mind a one off payment then Guild Wars is really good and it costs about £15 for the account key and game and all expansions (probably less now actually), with no need to pay any money to it ever after. You also don't get other people clogging up your game world in the guild wars, there are communal areas to meet people but when you go off to adventure and stuff you get your own world with only the people you invited into it.
