This.

In edition you could provide a commentary track detailing your descent into madness as this game consumes you.

...

I've lost a LOT of time to this game. It's insane. It seems so simple but the more you play the more strategy you find.

5 Days a Stranger.
7 Days a Skeptic.
Trilby's Notes.
6 Days a Sacrifice.
Play them in that order.

I've lost count of how long I've played and I've still only completed two dungeons. Stuck on the Warlord. I only have the Fighter and Barbarian finished.

Both GTA 1 and 2 can be acquired from the official website freely and legally.

ScummVN also offers emulation for a variety of Freeware classics, namely the absolutely astounding Beneath a Steel Sky. Mandatory for any fan of adventure games.

Try Little Fighter 2, it's a side scrolling beat 'em up with co-op features and unlockable characters.

I agree with these assertions. It may not look impressive at first glance, but once you start playing it can be hard to stop.

EDIT: Good God, how could I forget the Elder Scrolls games? Bethesda made the first two games (Arena and Daggerfall) available to download for free a few years ago.

http://elderscrolls.com/arena/
http://elderscrolls.com/daggerfall/

Be warned though, it can be tough to get these games running correctly. You'll need DOSBox and probably a tutorial or two as well.

I'm doing a PC Playthroughs channel on YouTube but my awesome computer broke down shortly after starting it and I'm forced to use a laptop. I want to keep doing games but the laptop is not built for gaming so I can only play old games with horrible graphics.

Can anyone recommend some old, free PC games I could download?
Steam:
-Alien Swarm (co op though)
-Trackmania Nations Forever (racing game though)
-Bulletstorm Demo
-Betas (hmm they may have secrecy clauses)
-Half Life 2: Lost Coast & Deathmatch (if you have AMD/ATI/Nvidia graphcis cards, no intel chips)
-Moonbase Alpha
-

Just check this whole list:

-TAG: the power of pain (don't know where to find it but this is the people/principal behind pain in Portal 2)

Look for System Shock 1, particularly the modded "Mobile" version.

The first one had a terrible control scheme, but the Mobile mod added typical FPS controls.

Oh yeah, Myst Online: Uru Live is a very different experience.

And it's not exactly high on requirements, particularly if you pull down the graphics and such.

World of Tanks is a great free to play MMO, you couldn't really LP it though for obvious reasons. Another good game is Spelunky, although you definitely shouldn't play through it blind on your Youtube channel, it's quite hard.

I give you...

Classic Gaming Network

All the games you can download here have gone freeware, so it's fully legal. Just make sure the install files are less than 100MB, as you would need a paid account to download games whose install files are larger than 100MB.

Edit: This is a good place to start from.
