Anyone who keeps an eye on the news portion of this website will know that a lot of online games are becoming F2P and I was just wondering what other people thought of it?

I like it, only if the company plans to sell vanity items and not huge game changing ones, which many people will still buy the vanity ones, but I have no interest in (Team Fortress 2). It's great!

I do like the concept. I also enjoy the free kills I get in TF2 as a result of it going F2P, and seeing some of them ragequit. But the thing I enjoy the most is the entitled, elitist whining from veteran players who think that Valve owes them more because of this, insulting the F2P players and acting like arrogant jerks. Hmmmph. "Valve has the best online community", huh? How's that working for ya?

As for other F2P games, I like them. And when it comes to micro-transactions, as long as they keep things fair. I despise games where you can "Buy to Win."

Nay, nay, naay! This is an absolutely awfull development. How dare they not charge money for their products?! How else am I going to get rid of this annoying pile of cash if I can't even spend it on video games? This just sucks all the joy out of the entire hobby.

Valve has started a dangerous trend here: until now the freeware disease was mostly contained within the indie scene, but now it has spread to popular older games. Soon it will also start infecting recent AAA-titles, and before you know it every game will be free! The horror!

Everyone, we must put a stop to this right now! And the only way to show companies like Valve how serious we are is my mail-bombing them with envelopes containing $100-dollar bills. That'll teach them providing us with products they don't make money off, the bastards.
