Racist animal rights groups?!

...

This world is getting wacky.

Anyway, I'd utter my grievances over this action, but I'm sure the internet is already going to have a field day with those two...*ahem* "caring individuals only looking out for the wellfare of animals".

Eh, there's no reason why members of a rights group can't be as bigoted as anyone else...excepting on whatever single issue the rights group is about, maybe.

Yeah, but groups like that are generally founded on equal treatment, equality, 'Don't do to others what you don't want done to you'. So, don't treat animals like just meat for the grinder or inanimate objects, because they're living beings just like us. For this group, who I would assume has similar ideals, to then use it to keep animals away from a specific race of people (That being their defense for doing what they did.)... That's just a whole new set of fucking twisted.

What the fuck is up with the entire god damn crowd of people just standing there, watching a homeless man get assaulted, his dog stolen, and doing absolutely nothing.

Other than that, fuck these evil cunts. It's times like these that I understand why so many people want to believe some deity will send all the arseholes down to hell. Aside from what they've done to this person, they also sully the already troubled reputation of animal welfare, since it gets lumped in with these animal rights zealots. Not to mention spitting in the face of the already questionable public perception of vegans. Fuck Cause Animale Nord.

There're plenty of homeless people with dogs by their side over here (UK) so if they were here, they would snatch the dog off them and sell it online? Gynpys or not, this is NOT ok!

These people aren't activists in my eyes.

They're evil, selfish racists who deliberately try to ruin the lives of people they don't know. The only "active" thing about them is how they're actively going out of their way to be complete and utter scumbags.

And then selling the dog online and naming it "Vegan" just to rub it in further... Oh, they fucking know that this behavior is deplorable.

Goddamnit France, why do you have to treat some foreigners like absolute garbage? Why are people like this allowed to exist and be cunts?

It's just a hobo. Does anyone think the hobo could take care of that dog? How do you think the hobo got into that position? Probably addicted to half a dozen drugs.

Having a pet for companionship and a sense of responsibility goes a long in helping homeless people beat addictions, ease depression, and possibly get back on their feet.

OT: Those "activists" are scum. I hope something terrible happens to them.

For the OP, here is one of many English articles on this matter. The internet is outraged over this: http://www.rt.com/news/316485-activists-steal-dog-homeless/

I just picked that link because it is very recent and very informative. No idea what "rt.com" is otherwise.

These are terrible, awful people. Clearly this kind of criminals are not fit to have children of their own and should have them taken away from them.

In all seriousness though, these people should be prosecuted. That would make me happy. If they were actually held responsible for committing a clearly documented crime.

Beggars, contrary to popular belief, can actually make more money that some people with full time jobs. From $100k for beggars outside of a walmart in Oregon to any range of income $15/hour and up.

So yeah, not only do I think he can take care of that dog but I bet people donate food specifically for the dog all the time and give him more than they otherwise would have for the sake of the dog. The dog may have ended up being healthier with a far more active lifestyle than assholes that buy a dog and keep them in a house all day. You may be less capable of providing for this dog than he is if you think about overall well being in that way. That last one is the primary reason why I didn't own a dog until I bought a 6 acre farm for the dog to be able to roam happily around. People don't realize what the sedentary life of especially wealthy people does to dogs. It isn't healthy.

In any event, this simply isn't your or anyone's call to make unless the dog is visibly emaciated. The alternative for most dogs is getting sent to a pound where if they aren't picked up they are disposed of.

True.
I've met homeless people who care for dogs or cats they've found abandoned.
More often than not the animals needs are met as a priority over the persons.
Can't take the financial situation of an individual as an indicator of how they'll treat an animal.

On topic...
I came in here expecting to find, like Obsidianjones, something about rage infected apes and a twenty eight days later apocalypse.
Instead it turns out I'm the rage infected chimpanzee and all it took was two arseholes and a puppy.
Hope the puppy gets home.

Instead of stopping it...
I mean I would film it AND try and stop those assholes from stealing his dog, and of this I'm pretty confident.

OT: Can someone PLEASE quote me or message me if there's an update on this? Cause this is actually causing me a decent degree of pure rage and I need closure.

I'm pretty sure it's the website of Russia Today. An English language Russian news outlet.

I remember following a bit of this yesterday.

The $200 was apparently to get the dog shots/etc, much as you'd pay an adoption fee for an animal from the pound. No idea if that price is inflated to present a profit to the dognappers or not.

Also no idea what prompted the dognapping. I'm assuming there was a reason (even if ultimately a stupid or indefensible one), I have no idea what it was though.

Difficult to give the dognappers any benefit of the doubt when they apparently named the dog "Vegan", which ranks high at a startling 98/100 on the "insufferably dipshit things to do" meter. If it's true. Because it sounds rather suspiciously like the invention of a Poe.

Bystander effect notwithstanding, it's a bit startling no one intervened, even if just to calm the situation down. The "animal activists" were hardly physically menacing. While it's lovely that we have folks capturing it on video and posting it to the internet, unleashing viral mobs on context-free situations is not typically a recipe for a rational or helpful resolution.

Things I don't know...

1. Why did they take the dog?
2. Was the dog sick? Did it need prompt medical attention?
3. Did the homeless man abuse, mistreat or neglect the dog? Was he incapable of caring for it?
4. Why was it necessary to physically wrest the dog from the man? Why was this so poorly handled?

I'd like to know all these things before I work myself into a lather of outrage.

I don't condone taking someone's companion animal unless that animal is being maliciously mistreated. If the man was incapably of financially providing for the dog, help him find employment/take care of it, or discuss some kind of joint custody arrangement where the dog can have its needs met without denying the two of them their companionship. The video itself is quite distressing, and my natural reaction would be to immediately intervene. If someone tried to take my pet, I'd wind up in prison as a result of my reaction.

I'd just, y'know...like all the facts before weighing in conclusively.
