This song is terrible, the lyrics especially but I don't blame Rebecca Black. If she manages to spin a career out of this more power to her.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

the thing about this song is... its horrible. and im not saying that as a pop hating internet troll. i like lady gaga, i even thing justin bieber makes decent music (even though i hate him). but this song... its just... ugh.

it sounds good if your not paying attention, it has a good beat, and if you like auto tune you wont care about her voice. however, if you do pay attention several major musical things come up that critics will bash the shit out of you for. she doesnt actually rhyme much, and when she does, it tends to be with the same words. also, her voice is motherf^%&ing terrible. sure, she is auto tuned the whole way through, but you can hear her voice underneath it all, and it is not good. third: she doesnt sing! its a song! rappers can get away with not singing, because rapping takes talent. talking does not. i could throw a butt load of auto tune on my voice (and raise it drastically) and i would sound the exact same.

but who cares? she sold an assload of singles. she is rich. be happy. its not gonna happen again.

Yeah, it's not a good song, but seriously if it isn't good then just leave it alone. No one needs to give a crap.

There's no reason in the world to hate Friday or Black. It's not like anyone likes it, so all of the people who keep coming up from no where and saying "check out this song, it's soooo bad" just keep making it more and more popular.

CYBERBULLYING!!! I NEED AN ADULT!!!
I AM AN ADULT!!!!!!!! (Dragonball Z Abridged, watch it, lol, profit)

OT: I kinda feel sorry for the kid. The company is making money off whatever talent they had, and threw the girl under the bus by letting her take the heat for singing their stupid song.

not a fan of pop, but i wish her the best of luck and i hope she learns from this.

Well maybe if the song didn't suck so much than this wouldn't happen.
I couldn't stand the first 40 seconds of the video, I had to beat the stupid out with my nearby metal water bottle to the forehead.

I'm not just saying this because I hate pop music, this makes Justin Bieber seem like a reasonably good singer. I don't hate all pop I guess, Lady Gaga isn't as awful as everyone says, she's just a freak/attention whore/all of the above. But this song...

when you release your music, you give people the right to insult it, just like anyone who appears on television gives me the right to make fun of them any way i want, anything released to the public belongs to the public and they can do what they want to it, it's theirs.

When musicians do psychadelics and learn what it is to actually PLAY music, I might have some respect for them. However, all of my rage toward these musical issues can be summed up thusly:

She seems to think she's being "cyber-bullied". No lady, that is called critiquing. People have a right to not like your song, and write about why they don't like your song. Now if they were harassing her on facebook about it, that'd be something different. But she's referring to articles on websites. I do dare say this experience is good for her. We all need to learn at some point that it's impossible to please everybody, and no matter what you do, somebody will hate it. Not that I blame her for still being oblivious to the true nature of the world. She's only 13 after all.

Which surprised the crap out of me. And what is it with children and young teens thinking they can sing now?

Nope it was horrible. Like train wreck from hell horrible.
It is the worst song ever. Listened to it once and then....never again.

And well...yeah, I'd expect it to have that many views. It's like one of those cat videos. You have to pass it around, not because this video is any good, but because it's so bad it's horrible.

In a week, we'll forget all about her, until she tries to make a new song. Which hopefully, won't come out soon.

It's not cyberbullying, it's music critique. All musicians get it.

Funny story, I found that song and another tastelessly-lyriced autotuned song by a young teenager on the same day, that almost sounds like they should collude on an epicly awful song and destroy the music industry as we know it. Link to the other lovely song, entitled "My Jeans": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DwT_2QQU64

I don't even understand what all the hate is about. Rebecca Black has created one of the most hilarious videos on YouTube. How can you not love a song in which a 13 year old ponders which seat to take in a car that clearly only has one open seat, and is clearly being driven by another 13 year old? How can you not love a song with lyrics so lazy that they don't even rhyme a single time? How can you not love a song that features a random rap verse about driving on the highway from some guy who looks like a 50 year old version of Usher?

And that kinda shocks me. She had to see this coming, especially if you know anything remotely about Bieber. But even more so is that this could be the new thing. You cant deny its not popular, and appaerantly it just takes 2 grand to get something something like this put out.
My guess is that she expected it to fly under the radar. Ark (the company that produced her video) specializes in vanity videos, many of them even worse than Ms Black's, and none of them have become an internet sensation the way she has. She probably assumed that only her friends would watch the video and that would be that.

I mean, there are lots of awful or ridiculous things on the web and most of them go unnoticed.

could songs like this be the next big thing in music? Is the hate fully deserved? And is there really more to Black as they say? And is she right about the cyber bullying?
Utterly amazed no-one has asked me directly about her and ARK yet.

"This could be the new thing" - well, it's not a new thing, it's actually an old thing. Stock Aitken & Waterman did similar stuff, producing highly manufactured pop to a very specific spec with their roster of artists in the 80s, which included Kylie Minogue (her first four albums were by the SAW team), Rick Astley (yes that song was by them), Mel & Kim, Dead Or Alive and many others. Motown had a similar manufactured aesthetic in the 1960s, churning out hit after hit all with that "Motown sound". ARK is a bit more cottage than that but it's a similar concept.

Of course the hate isn't deserved. If people don't like it they can just not listen to it. Of course the reason why people are posting and linking it everywhere is because they feel it falls in the realm of "so bad it's funny", but obviously people like the song too, because there's plenty of "so bad it's funny" stuff on the net so why should this stand out? The reason why is that fucking "Friday, friday, friday" chorus gets stuck in your head. In other words, it's a pop song with a good hook, and hooked you all are, because I bet every single person reading this remembers how the chorus goes regardless of when they last heard the song.

She's wrong about the cyber-bullying. She's just gotten her first taste of fame and isn't used to the fact that contrary to popular belief, fame tends to make people loathed, not liked. One thing that I recommend all famous people do is not take anything written about them seriously.

So she's catching untold amounts of shit because she was used by the corporate music machine to lend her voice to a single song, and the resulting fallout will probably follow her for the rest of her life and ruin her chances of being taken seriously in the music community.

Vanilla Ice, anyone?
Not an accurate comparison. Vanilla Ice had more than one hit song, multiple albums, movie appearances, and is still active today (although certainly on a lower level than in his heyday).

Here's the follow-up single to Ice Ice Baby that was also a hit back in the day:

people are idiots, it's just a song, if you don't like it don't listen.

it fills the place of "hilarious drunk song" that you can sing with your friends at two in the morning standing in the smoking area of a club.

quite honestly, people on the internet need to man up and get their fucking priorities sorted. When you have a stronger emotional feeling about what essentially is a rather amusing harmless song than third world debt or war, you are failing badly.
