Yeah I know, there's no such thing as bad luck on Friday the 13th, but honestly...I do sort of believe in it from today. I'm as rational as you can get, you might often find me on Youtube videos of The Atheist Experience dissing religious folk in the comments, but after today...
Well, I work as a cashier in a supermarket. First bit of bad luck, I had to start at 7am. I'm used to them, but I still absolutely hate doing them. It's not too bad, I only live fifteen minutes walk away from work. So I'll count the early start as strike one.
Strike 2 was the shower in the main bathroom was leaking. My landlady had gotten a plumber over to fix it yesterday, but she never told me it was completely fixed (there were still damage to the base of the bath, so I thought when I went in this morning that it wasn't finished). I assumed that meant I couldn't shower. This left me with dirty feeling hair for the day.
Strike 3 was I had no food in the house, I'd forgotten to shop the day before, so that meant no breakfast (7am is when we open, so no chance of buying anything, and no, we're not allowed take goods upstairs without paying). I did have...yuck...vending machine soup, I had literally no other choice. It was all right, but still, the thought of eating soup from a vending machine in the staff canteen...
Strike 4 is I was on the express checkouts at the front of the store on my own, no-one beside me. I only got someone at around 10 am.
Strike 5 was my till froze. I completed a transaction, gave the customer her change, but for some reason it wouldn't tick over to a new transaction. It was stuck like that for about a half hour. I was sent to pack bags during that time.
Strike 6 was the worst. A gentleman came up with a basket of goods, put them down, and when I went to pick up his carton of eggs, one of them had been cracked open. Somehow, the actual cardboard had been badly torn there, and the egg yolk went EVERYWHERE. Disgusting. I don't know how he didn't notice his eggs were broken. In a panic looking for tissue to clean it up (couldn't find a cleaner and I had none of my own) I had to grab a pack of tissue from the floor and pay for it myself. This was all in the middle of a very big rush, and my till-mate was a noob, so I'm frantically clearing up the mess while trying to keep an eye on him.
So peeps, anyone else experience bad luck today?
