Apologies for the poor pun...and the slightly odd topic, but something pulled me back towards Frogger at the weekend. It been had years - perhaps as many as twenty - since I'd last played the game, but once I started playing, it was very difficult to stop. I was - as anyone who watches the video will see - very very bad at it. But, here's the thing...the design is so good, I really didn't mind having to endlessly retry, and as soon as I have a bit more time - probably the weekend now - I'm going to get back to it...and I have Breath of the Wild!

Anyone else experience this lure of older games despite having much newer and very highly acclaimed ones waiting to be played?

Here's my dreadful Frogger skills for all to see:)

I never quite understood why that frog would die if he fell in the river. Frogs can swim.

Aren't there crocodiles in there?

OT: I have a curious attachment to Berzerk, an understandable attachment to Tetris, and desire to play the original Scorched Earth PC game.

There's also the fact that I use to play this Tron arcade game, and that years later, I found out someone had put it online, I played it, and I beat it for the first time. Good times, great nostalgia.

From time to time I go back and play Forbidden Forest for the C-64. It was the Dark Souls of my childhood (metaphorically)

Here is a web port if someone wants to try it: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Azuki/forbidden-forest
Damn I loved that game, thanks for the link.

On topic:

I got the Colecovision bundle on Steam and have been playing Zaxxon a game I loved as a kid, I had the board game... LOL

The last level of the original Frogger - which is like 3 or something - doesn't end when you reach the other side. You can still hop around and then the timer runs out and you "lose". Terrible design, IMO.

If we're talking single screen arcade games, my favorites are Burger Time, Mr. Do, and Millipede.

I would love to play genuine Centipede and Millipede cabinets - the joypad is no substitute for the trackball controller:)

More classic game action for me this weekend, as I found myself playing Rom Roulette on an 2600 Emulator (just randomly stopping and clicking on a game in the rom list) and I came across this gem (Spider Fighter). It is odd when you find a game like this, as pretty quickly, you stop seeing the primitive graphics and become lost in 'the zone' ...and it is as much fun as anything I've played for a long time. First Frogger and now this. I have a feeling that this is going to be pretty retro year for me:)

So here's a question: has anyone else played Rom Roulette recently, and if so, any gems found?

Once in a while, I try to see if I still have my old Robotron 2084 chops.

Analog sticks just ain't the same as joysticks though. I'll probably never really know till I get my mitts on another full fledged cabinet of it somewhere...

I LOVED playing the old MK games at the arcade, back in the day.

Still have my 'Moves Cards' from back then.
