I've been waiting for them to stop milking the Souls franchise and make AC6 for ages now. I can't wait to see what they do with those Soulsbux channeled into my mecha specification spreadsheet simulator.

So hyped.

I'm not oppose to what you're saying but it's funny that you say the franchise that has 5 instalments is being milked, while you want more games from another that has 20. XD

Anyway, cool, I hope it hits PC. I have no preference on if Miyazaki is director or not since I haven't played an Armored Core game before.

Not going to lie, I'm sorely tempted to get a new console just for this alone.

6 AC games in 20 years vs 5 Souls games (if you include Bloodborne) in 9 years. I suppose it's not that milky, but at least the AC games had other ganes between them.

I remember playing the demo of Armored Core 1. I feel super old now.

Oh fuck yes. Please let it come to PC else i've to buy a shitty console just for AC and i really don't wanna do that, but i'm gonna.

But i really hope they make it closer to AC: For Answer than the newer installment. I prefer the high speed fights compared to the slow sloggin' Nexts.

Edit:

Definitly Armored Core: For Answer. It's really fast paced and besides the normal mech fights they implemented big boss battle vs huge armored platforms. Some of the coolest battles i've ever had in a game.

Be aware that a lot of is tinkering with specifications and testing. You'll spend as much time faffing with menus optimising your turning speed and targetting proficiancy as actually shooting up other robots

Here's hoping it's not multiplayer focused and go back to having multiple great mission and no forced online component.

Well armored core work by having one main game and then an expansion, so your entry point are:

AC2 and AC another age:en great games, but feel kinda clunky now, control with the D-pad rather than analogue stick, limited customizability since left arm weapon have to be blade and shield so no dual wielding. Rough, but can be fun, wouldn't start here though.

AC3 and AC silent line: Still control with D-pad but huge amount of customization, especially silent line which also has a lot of great and varied mission. If you can tolerate clunky control, start here.

AC Nexus and AC last raven: Finally realize that the analogue stick existed, but sadly the part list as been severely reduced from silent line (although last raven does tremendously increase it), nexus is not that great but last raven fixed most problem (although they over nerved some play style so much that there useless, RIP machine gun). If you can't tolerate the clunky control, start here, also nexus come with a secondary disc with a bunch of remake of mission from previous AC game, so you'll still get to experience some of those.

AC4 and AC for answer: PS3 time, complete overhaul of the system, way way way faster and much more aerial, you can do entire mission without ever touching the ground. The part list isn't that great in 4 but for answer again fix that somewhat. Sadly the mission aren't all that great, most are very short, ranging from 10 second (not kidding some are shorter than the loading time) to maybe 5 minute for the longest one and there aren't all that many.

AC5 and the other one: such a huge disappointment, it's really only exist for online interaction. Very few real mission, most are just rinse and repeat mission with no story that boil down to "kill X amount of Y", you have to be online to even use the shop. The soundtrack is pretty good but that's about it.

And that's about it, there's a few more spin off here and there but that cover the just of it. Man armored core could really do with some anniversary edition with all of them on one disc.

Different company. Though Chromehounds was still an awesome game; I remember being the best Heavy Gunner NA for some time before the balance of the game broke and things like the shielded cockpits and chickenwalker double barrels came out.

You know, back when Heavy Gunners where Quad/Tank tread'd artillery pieces that rained death from afar, not sprinted up to you and dumped ammo everywhere.

Same company. FromSoft. Even shared the same emblem design feature verbatim.

I was mostly a sniper, utilizing heavy sniper cannons to nail cockpits from afar. Though I did alot of experimental mechs, like a sniper/scout/commander that had only one cannon, but was meant to be very sneaky and mobile. I also got 750 gamerscore. To outsiders that may sound irrelevant, but the achievements in that game were not easy to get.

Though I got lucky and my first war was with a nation that was defeated then revived (the middle-eastern based on). Chromehounds had so many cool unique ideas that really need to be given more chances.

Lets all dial down the hype before everyone gets disappointed.

The article did NOT confirm a new Armored Core. It says that he would like to make one at some point. There was a translation error.

It could still be in production. I would be surprised if they kept it hidden away much longer.

I was starting to think I was the only one who played that game and just hallucinated all the people I played with.

I was never any good at it though.

I mostly just played against AI. Eventually only like, 3 mech designs were used and it sucked. If they ever did make a sequel, I hope theyd balance it to encourage greater variety.

I miss that game...

That game holds a special place in my heart specifically for the multiplayer. I was trash at it but kept with it because the single player was so bare bones and plain. The online though was based around 3 factions constantly warring for dominance of the map. Kind of like Planetside 2 but with mech suits I suppose. But then, you probably already knew that. Anyway... yeah it was fun to pick a side and get to know the other people in your faction.

I just hope performance is better than Armored Core: For Answer. That thing dropped to like 5fps I swear. I couldn't stand it!

Always been interested in that franchise

They should just give it a huge reboot
