Video game obsession is a serious illness in this country that many people recognize.
Actually so far I have heard that China is the only nation that offically reconizes it but she is in America God Damn it

Ha! We got recognized!
Hey lady, you know books? Some are horrifyingly violent with sexual content, and there is no ID requirement for buying those, just look at Watchmen, and I'm surprised she hasn't attacked Harry Potter yet...
I think she wants attention, as her arguments are flawed.

Also, I challenge her to a duel in Chemistry (I love chem).

Video games and other electronics are doing bad things to kids' brains.
Bad things... like what? You said it, so where is the evidence to back it up? (Not talking to Greg, more of a rhetorical question towards the mom)

First Jack Thompson...Then Bobby Kottick...Then that guy who sues every game company...Now this crazy laidie.

This proves what those shirts say: The only reason that idiots exist is because it's illegal to kill them.

We can't think eh? That's just amazing... you know, since Japan, one of those nations with all those smart people, has a large population of gamers.
And it is amazing how throughout middle and high school I have gotten nothing but A's and B's. I guess I just can't think.
No matter that I have been told numerous times that I am a great writer, and I was almost forced to join the high school newspaper because I was such a good writer, never mind the fact that I can turn out a very good story 3 times as long as anyone else in the class in half the time, never mind the fact that I had a 115% in biology, and A's in higher science classes, never mind the fact that I have had an A in all of my math classes.
But if you ignore all of that, then maybe I am dumb.

Also, here is my long, detailed response to the whole thing.
Mods, if this counts as advertising, sorry, but I wrote about this on my blog and don't feel like writing it all again:

So... raise your hand if you think she's a DICK?

*raises hand*

In all seriousness, I'd prefer to be a devil-child with low self esteem, than a spiteful, middle-aged woman who describes herself as frumpy.
I'll raise my hand to that.

Somehow I don't think the Escapist will be sending her a Christmas Card this year. You guys are lucky though. Your nutjobs just keep yelling and keep being unimpressive. In Aus, our nutjob is part of the government and the main reason we don't have R 18 games in aus.

She claims not to be a troll but she definatly is, shes denouncing a medium that she knows a lot of people like and are fans of, and seems happy with the attention shes attracting. Also when does she mention the Escapist? I didn't see it anywhere in there.

This, to me, Is just another Anti-Spore.
In which it seems to too over zealous to be something serious.
If it is serious, but, then it hosts someone who has an opinion that is very flawed in noticing the single fact.. Everyone is different, yet she is profiling us as a stereotype.

Gamers are not a single group of like-minded individuals who have the same passion, but is a hobby that many of us, from different structures, enjoy.

But hey, its like you are going to read this.

Perhaps if she had played videogames as a young girl, she wouldn't be so desperate for attention now?

All you have to do is ask any teacher about his or her students' critical thinking skills these days and you will hear a TORRENT of horror stories about kids who have lost the power to think.
Ok, Mum/Dad, can you tell me any horror stories about kid's losing critical thinking skills these days?

You can?

Due to their parents not giving them time because they're too busy on their own personal crusades to care for their upbringing.

Fair enough. Mind if I play more video games? Cheers.

(Both my parents are teachers with over 70 years teaching between them, just so you know)

...She specifically mentions The Escapist and sarcastically thanks everyone for their comments...
Aha! The Puritan is also a hypocrite! Being on a games website... for shame! She should know that the only way to be reporting on games in the media is to know nothing beyond Hot Coffee and Rapelay!

My mum has gotten all the Lego Indy achievements, so I wonder if that makes her less of a parent...?

No self-esteem eh? Wonder how she managed to get married if she has to attack everything that makes her unhappy.
She's not married. Somehow she managed to adopt two kids as a single woman, and apparently takes them on fabulous vacations across the globe on a single writer's salary.

I smell a rat. A big, fat rat.

Hahahahahahaha.

No really, that's all I can come up with. Everyone else has pretty much summed up my feelings.

EDIT: Ok, I'll agree to put down the controllers if she agrees to put down the doughnuts.
